Ha, well misery has some company. I got my free ship today and promptly plugged in 6-7 different names in the Rename screen before I realized that I was blowing through all of my energy credits.
This is tomorrow people! So if you haven’t logged on in a few days, do so asap, there were a few patches this week.

Could I get an invite to fleet for Kris@hockosi? I’m just interested in being part of a group. I hit level 11 and have a cruiser now. The game is pretty fun, but I’m hoping ground combat gets better.
Well, the 2800 is severely bugged. It apparently crashes on EVERYONE halfway through, when you attempt to board your ship through DS9’s docking ring (which is the only way to board your ship at that point).
It was actually pretty neat prior to that, ugh.
Cryptic do seem to be the Keystone Kops of the MMO development world. Every fix breaks two other things.
Holy server loads, batman. I will not be surprised if this game crashes or is taken down any second now. All sorts of craziness going on. Just did an STF mission and not only did it boot me and rewarp me back into the system in the middle of it, but it also gave me all the bonus loot. All my teammates didn’t even have a chance. Oh, yeah, and the 15-minute clock was ticking down at about -50% speed, and it was sluggish.
Yah, I’ve shelved the game for now. It’s a lot of fun, but the lag and jerkiness has gotten overwhelming. Hopefully they get another hamster in there and double their server capacity.
It’s fine during the work week, but the weekends are turning out to be a crowded mess, especially with last week having all the free 2nd anniversary stuff and this week debuting the new, weekly featured episodes.
Is this new episode of limited duration? Or to put another way, should I wait for the bugs to get ironed out or might this just vanish if I hold out?
They’ll be around forever, but there are rewards that are being offered this weekend that will not be offered once it’s over.
And the mission is doable. I finished it.

I took a 15 minute break, then when I came back it worked. It’s pretty fun blowing up Cardassians in my borged out Galor.
Hit level 20, got my Excelsior (Crptic points be damned!) - the USS Stormbringer. I’m slowly getting the hang of the ground missions with my all female away team (excepting me of course - I’m too old school to have a chick toon). Still enjoy the space combat more…it really has a SFC vibe going that I am enjoying. The WASD controls are taking me a bit to get used to, almost broke out a joystick but I’m starting to get the hang of it.
Have any QtF fleet invites gone out, or am I not one of the cool kids?

Ugh, at first I thought the Cardassian Lock Boxes were kinda cool, but now I’m swimming in the damn things, and unlocking them costs either 100 Cpoints each (and that fucking adds up fast), or I buy a key on the exchange for a minimum of 1.25 million energy credits each (and I’d only be able to get about 5), or I burn up all my dilithium for one or two keys. And I have 25+ boxes.
It’d be okay if the prizes were fucking cool or came in a variety, but after the third or fourth Danube Runabout pet, I realized I’m literally just burning money. You can’t even sell a Danube Runabout pet; the goddamn exchange is flooded with them.

I saw in chat people who whined it took them $112 in keys to get the galor class cruiser. I’m not really sure what to think of this whole affair. I won’t be buying any keys that’s for sure.
Yeesh, had a few hundred C-Store points, so I spent $6.25 for 500 more and bought about 8 keys. That’s all I’m prepared to spend. But, yeah, there are people on the forums who paid hundreds of dollars to get a Galor.
The backlash from this is going to be huge.

That’s nothing, there were people who spent hundreds of dollars in CPs to try and get the Jem Hadar Bug ship over the X-mas holiday. It had a less than 1% drop rate.
I don’t even understand why someone would want either ship, they are both ugly. :p
The Featured episodes will not go away, but during the initial release and for a month or so after the final chapter has been released there has always been a special reward that you can get for completing the series that will go away until they do a special event.
For one of them I got a Breen bridge officer, another got me a Reman bridge officer. I don’t recall any others off the top of my head.
I also did the first part of the 2800 on Saturday with no problems, so I would guess they fixed the issues people are talking about.
As for those lockbox keys, it’s a terrible idea for anyone to buy them. It screams of farmville style games to me.
I don’t have a problem with my state selling lottery tickets to fund education. That doesn’t mean I look upon folks that buy lottery tickets with actual expectations of winning with anything other than pity. The lottery is a tax on stupidity.
