The idea of a fucking planet moving around thanks to some rockets slapped on is so… anime. I’m imagining a crossover between Star War and Gurren Lagann.

Fighter mechanics cannot fly fighters. I have not rewatched TFA and I have no plans to…ever, but I don’t recall any suggestion she had actually flown it before.

PrequelMemes is on fire this morning

That’s amazing, but you tricked me into going there and it’s terrible reddit meta crap.

He can’t say that. Shoot him or something!

I’m not a huge Star Wars fan so I’m not invested in the lore

She may be a serviceable protagonist, but ‘great character’? Well, agree to disagree. The best I can say for her is that she isn’t the zero-charisma void, wandering in search of a dramatic raison d’etre, that is Finn.

Luke was a slightly annoying hayseed in Star Wars, and the movie would have been nigh unbearable if Han and Obi Wan hadn’t been along for the ride, but he did acquire a fair bit of gravitas as the trilogy progressed. If Rey has anything a tenth as memorable as “that’s impossible!!” in the first two movies of the new trilogy I must have missed it. She mostly just comes across as someone who is vaguely pissed off and concentrating really hard.

Oh, to speak on one’s feet
To beat on one’s brain
Popular Mechanics are at it again!

“Usually you have this intense sort of scowl of concentration on your face, like you’re doing all this for a school project or something.”

They kind of do.

Whoah…

My favorite part about that scene is the completely blank look he has not only through that line but the rest of the film, more or less.

I love that movie so much.

And also Reeves.

Johnny… get me two!

Both are infinitely better than Christian Haydensen’s appallingly bad performance in the prequels.

And Hayden Christensen’s was even worse!

Not a high bar to clear. And Anakin, however poorly portrayed, had more intrinsic interest than Finn, who always elicits from me the question, “Why is this guy in the movie, again?”

Rey is bog-standard Hero’s Journey Protagonist, which is fine, but not enough to count as a ‘great character’ in my book.

What’s funny is that i quickly googled him to check the spelling of Haydensen, and it came up, so i assumed that it was spelled right.

He’s such a bad actor that no one knows his name.

I actually liked him in Jumper. Daisy Ridley is a good actor and emotes well–but the writing for her has been terrible so it’s not like she has much to work with.

I think it was probably due to the strong supporting cast and a decent script, but I feel his impassiveness worked to his advantage in Shattered Glass. That’s the only film where I thought he was watchable.

I got the impression that Finn was meant for much greater things than he was given in The Last Jedi.
