yeah, that droid vader threatened leia with? that was actually a medbot, giving her insulin. very few people know the princess is diabetic. it’s not like the empire had an entire r&d wing, budget, design, maintenance, and production line for the sole purpose of torturing people.
aunt beru and uncle owen would probably say something in defense of the empire, but they can’t given they’re smoldering skeletons thanks to some evil murderers, whose true identities we’ll never know of.
maybe the jawas can give shed some light on the empire’s progressive law enforcement attitudes- no wait, they were killed off by a band of roving tusken raiders who were unfortunately never caught.
and that part in the beginning where the star destroyer fire control director made the remark, “hold your fire, there’s no life signs”? they were actually operating non-lethal turbotasers. certainly not blowing away helpless unarmed lifepods.
