The pre-order page has been updated with fine print indicating that the early-entry period will be “up to 5 days” depending on when pre-order code was registered.

How will that pan out for these pre-made guilds, I wonder? I pre-ordered and registered my code an hour or two after pre-orders went live. What happens if the guild leader was not so quick on the draw? Do we get to spend five days watching various guildies slowly trickle in? Can we recruit at all during that time?

For that matter, how will we know when we are allowed in? Will BioWare email us a notification, or (worse) will we have to keep trying until we get in? I suppose five days of pounding will be a good stress test for the login server(s)… :P

Edit: Learn to read, Peri. There’s a FAQ on the page that Jason linked. Email notifications will be sent. As for the guild, those questions are mostly answered here:

From the sounds of things the guild leaders have 2 weeks (presumably from the 20th, not the 15th) as leader-in-absentia of an automatically activated guild.

I went through the pre-order/register rigmarole within a few hours of it being available, but I won’t be sure about the 15th until they announce how long the pre-download phase is. >20gb will take me days.

I’ve resigned myself to getting the game from Gamestop on the release day, at earliest, and then waiting for whenever the queues’ will let me in. By that time everyone I know will be level 30 probably ;p.

Actually, as it turns out, I just said screw GameStop and ordered from Amazon, got my code, and am already registered with my PvP Sith side guild and everything. Woot, I guess.

Hey all, I applied and look forward to whack the scummy imperials! Hopefully the lag wont be to bad as I will be joining in from Europe. My name on SWTOR is Rohwen.

The Navy has an applicant named “ChasBlackwell,” anyone want to pipe up? I don’t see that on the QT3 members list.

Sent in my app for the bad dudes.

That’d be me, sorry. Black Isis was taken. :(

Excellent! Welcome to the Navy!

I haven’t gotten into the beta yet, unfortunately. Soon, hopefully. :)

So we can pick our character names now?

He’s referring to his screen name on the website.

Ah ok yeah that would be a bitch if I couldn’t pick my character name!

I have to imagine that surnames are coming at some point given how (totally) established they are in the SW universe. I’m not sure why they aren’t there to start with, unless it just makes policing the Xx1)art4 //\au1xX stuff that much more difficult somehow.

Or maybe they’re still deciding whether or not to give each class/AC a standard surname that can be dropped in singleplayer quest dialogue. They’d probably catch more crap for that than it’d be worth.

Yay, new security measures…

As a result, all accounts created on or before October 21st, 2011 must reset their password to meet the new security standards. Just like for any other user account you have, changing your Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ password on a regular basis is one of the simple measures you can take to protect your personal information.

Your Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ account credentials are linked to EA.com and Origin.com, so your new password will be applied across all three websites.

Am I wrong in thinking that now that my password is spread over 3 different entities, there’s three times the risk of “breaches”?

Why they haven’t announced an authenticator yet, free for Android, is beyond me.

Was that in an email? i didntr get anything? I tend not to use their horrible crappy forums yet. So will my account use my oring password, or do i have to change it manually?

Yeah, got that email this morning - it did look legit, and all it told me was to wait for the alert that will tell me to change my password.

Well, there’d be one authentication system, but it is 3 points where it could be breached. The good news is that they only have to secure it right once. The bad news is that they probably won’t.
