I got the same e-mail and have the same problem of not being able to check the guild status. For the record I have pre-ordered and have not received a beta invitation yet.
The 4-people preordering thing was met before it was introduced, we’re fine there. Secondly, if we’re ever up for guild beta test we’re not allowed to say so or we all get booted. In the event that we were up for guild testing that’d really need to get edited out quick.
Site’s up for me and Threevil reads “Guild is READY for deployment” as it has done since they introduced that latest phase. That refers to "deployment to a server at launch (early access) and is beta-unrelated.
I got the email and checked the website and it says the guild is ready for deployment. It says we should contact McMaster to let him know who to invite.
I have no idea what that means.
I’m in the beta so I don’t need an invite to the guild portion (I’m guessing the guild testing will be on a different server, though. If so, I’m guessing I won’t see any of you guys). I’d say only invite me if you can’t get 4 other people.
We definitely have 4 preorders; that was required to get the green flag for early launch deployment mode or whatever. Beyond that, someone maybe PM me this message? I’ve gotten nothing, and my access to the website is still normal.
And if it is beta we’ll have to edit this out, unless the NDA’s changed.
EDIT: I’m seeing stuff about this deployment email on other forums, kind of sounds like it may be just stuff about “ready for deployment (at launch)” ie false alarm. Assuming it’s the same one.
Yeah. That’s my bad on saying ‘beta’. It says that nowhere in the email. It’s so early to be starting headstart that I assumed this had to be some sort of beta test. Without an NDA to sign, it seemed harmless to mention it.
Np at all. They picked a bad night to be sending that out.
Well, this is a legit use of your account to you, and I’m not inclined to disagree, but Blizzard/EA/Turbine/whoever wouldn’t see things that way.

Well, I waited for an invite for a long time and never got one. In the meantime, we decided to put our house up for sale which meant the computer got shoved into storage for a while, and I’m stuck on the laptop for the foreseeable future. A laptop that struggles to play League of Legends on the lowest settings.
You see where this is going… Yep. Got an invite tonight. I’ll look at everything tomorrow and figure out if I can easily give it away to somebody here.
Why would you do scheduled maintenance the morning after sending out beta invites? Why wouldn’t you schedule that maintenance for another time?
Ea saves money on server costs by running their servers not on electricity, but on tears.
Finally got mine. Of course, it’ll take me two days to download the client, meaning that I’ll get about one day to play the game, but at least I get to try before I decide to buy.

Definitely check email again or http://www.swtor.com/tester (once the site comes back up) to see if you got in the beta for this weekend. My wife got in and her email didn’t arrive until 6am this morning.

It’s theoretically possible they scheduled this morning’s maintenance last night due to issues with the weekend beta test invites.
Hooray, I got my invite! Hooray, their site is down for maintenance so I can’t respond! Hooray, this is the same weekend that Skyrim comes out!
Thanks for the heads up, Jason. I would’ve missed this as I’m only subscribed to GI’s normal podcast feed.
Also, I got the email yesterday saying that the Tatooine Royal Navy is set to go. I couldn’t figure out what the heck that actually meant except that we have a nice, green check mark where a nice, green check mark should go.
I still don’t have a beta weekend invite either.
Blackadar, I’m already downloading the client; you can get it from www.swtor.com/tester as soon as the server downtime is over.
Bummer re:non-invitations, guys.
Yeah, it’s just a push-out promoting their “deployment phase” guild setup stage that actually rolled out a while ago; both Qt3 guilds were automatically green-lit, but there’s no indication it means anything for beta or anything. It just means both guilds will (probably) be put on the same server and will be pre-fab more or less. We’ll see how it works in practice; maybe it asks members if their first char wants to be in their pre-registered guild or whatever.
Yeah, it was one of the better “beta impressions” podcasts, in part because it covered levels 1-20 instead of just the homeworlds like most of them. I guess it was from a beta weekend. It was certainly high on the “OMG wasn’t X cool? And Y was sweet!” stuff with a tiny bit of criticism literally crammed into the last minute or so, but pretty clearly at least one person wasn’t a SWTOR fan coming into it, and they all sounded pretty eager to play more.
