Worked fine for… my friend yesterday. Sustained 1.6mb 'ish while doing other stuff at same time. Today it is downloading some patch at 2mb/s+, more or less what i get from steam.

They just posted this notice:

When we started our Beta Testing Weekends, we told you that each weekend would include more testers than the last. We’re excited to announce that later this month we will be conducting our largest Beta Testing Weekend yet, specifically designed to help us stress test our servers in preparation for the launch of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.

How can you take part in this coming Beta Test Weekend? Well, for starters we are happy to announce that anyone who has signed up for our Game Testing Program prior to today, November 11th, will get invited! Invites will be sent in the coming weeks.

So everyone that’s signed up for beta (prior to today), even those who were in a previous beta test, will be invited to the upcoming beta weekend. Note this is not the beta weekend starting tonight (11/11), it’s for a future weekend.

I’m also thinking the NDA will probably be lifted around this time. No point in keeping it really if a million or so folks (I think that’s the number they mentioned signed up) will be able to get in.

I think the “being total dicks to their staff” ship sailed with a 12/20 launch date.

Anything’s possible I guess, but I would say it’s unlikely especially with a Christmas launch. I’m betting it’ll be on the weekend of 12/2 - 12/4.

It does say “later this month,” though. Realistically your weekend is close enough, but technically there’s only two weekends left for them to do it in November. See also what Adam said.

Ah, you’re right, I glossed over the “later this month” portion of the announcement. Thanksgiving seems most likely if they stick to that then. They were probably planning to work through the holiday anyway with launch so close, but I’m still a little surprised.

Typically the weekend tests have started at 5p CST on Friday, and emails with instructions to download the client have gone out even earlier than that so folks can get the client ahead of the test. That actually makes it look even more likely that it’ll be Thanksgiving.

I got accepted it looks like, but they didn’t say where to download the client or WHICH weekend I was accepted for…if it’s this weekend, I’d really like to know where to get the client :P
