Swtor is much more kotor 1 than 2 i think. This is mostly my guess based on limited information, so maybe i am completely wrong as i’m under the impression the beta did not really cover this, but i believe there is sort of a light/dark side leveling system which lets you equip special light side or dark side only gear. Thus you will want to have one high to be able to use Reven’s triple sided lightsaber, probably.

Considering that Bioware made KOTOR 1, but did not make KOTOR 2, I think it’s safe to guess that there will be pretty much 0% KOTOR 2 to it.

Reading the past few pages makes me think I’m some kind of unique breed of MMO player: the OCD achiever who also is interested in the plot and story. In my time playing WoW, I completed damn near every achievement I could (I skipped anything PvP-related as I had no interest in that aspect), but while completing every quest in the game for Loremaster, I took the time to read every line of text to learn why I should be motivated to collect 10 kobald candles or whatever.

A bit off topic, but this is what I find a little funny about people complaining about how WoW has no story, and SWTOR is coming to the rescue. Yes, the fully-voiced dialog in SWTOR is an awesome feature, but if you can be bothered to actually read the quests then you’ll see that WoW does have quite a bit of story/lore to it. Even better is if you did loremaster pre-cataclsym, and then ran an alt through the new 1-60 content. There are tons of references to the old quests, and it was all done really really well without being cryptic to true newcomers.

Granted, maybe SWTOR will do story even better or you enjoy SW lore more than WoW lore. But it was there in WoW if you wanted it.

WoW has gotten better about story. Scripted events, cutscenes, etc. But still, the basic story delivery mechanism in WoW is a paragraph or two of quest text, which is a whole different thing than a fully voiced and animated, multiple choice dialogue.

Well, it wasn’t as good as TIE Fighter. But it’s more that it’s very, very rare for me to pre-order a game. That one worked out, maybe SWTOR will too (though I won’t get a hat out of it).

Well, Darth Hater is the official Curse affiliate for TOR… Until their new improved DH site goes up, though, TOR Wars may be tops for getting ALL the news. (And they’re funny!)

Which doesn’t change in the slightest whether the NDA is up or not. The spoilers are out there for people who look at them, and if anything it’s worse because misleading or partial truths about the plot (there’s one big one I’m thinking about here) get bandied about while other people can’t say anything to correct it even if someone wants to know.

When Dragon Age 2 came out, if you dived right into various spoiler-marked message board threads, you were going to get the spoilers. There’s no difference.

Fully? I dunno. There is voicework, but my experience of it was that it was so terrible you should never even install it, and I didn’t next time I installed the game.

I don’t think so. I played through it recently to level 20 and I only heard voices up until level 10 or so.

Voice acting really only works if it’s done really well with a compelling story behind it, which no MMO has achieved as of yet (IMO).

You mean for people who don’t like NDA, there’s effectively no NDA? No kidding!

Meanwhile, the 99% of the potential playerbase who doesn’t have any interest in googling for leak sites is, in fact, shielded from spoilers. Bioware is never going to unilaterally disarm themselves on that front.

But if you’re trying to stealthily hint that you’ve played a lot and are dissatisfied, go ahead… Realizing that there are lots of the opposite, of course.

In spite of my skepticism, I’ll most likely buy this game upon release. I did the same thing with TIE Fighter when it came out (I wish I’d kept the hat they sent me with the pre-release order), and that turned out to be one of the best games of the decade. I will hope that this is something similar.

Anyways - Anyone else get the email from SWTOR about changing your password? With a frikkin’ link screaming phishing? Its amazing how many companies who thinks its a good idea to send a mail with a click-here link to change your password.

It seems games companies never learn how to communicate with their costumers - well, except bioware I guess who is pretty good about it.

I think its only if you havent changed your password after a certain date - cant acces the mail here though.
