I would guess you only need to change it again if it doesn’t conform to their new password requirements.

My take on the whole “hearing quests is a timesink MMO players don’t want” thing is that BioWare is purposefully trying to break the mold a little and focusing on the journey being the reward. While there have always been people like that in MMOs, I don’t know that any game has catered to them as much as SWTOR will. And you know, after people have played 6 years of WoW, where most feel it’s essential to get your character to max level as fast as possible to “start the real game” maybe the more leisurely pace will have a wide appeal.

Sure, there’s going to be people who hit spacebar to skip all the voiced dialog and go collect 10 space bear uteri, but maybe - just maybe - people will get interested in their classes’ storyline quest and will take some time to see how it unfolds.

It’s confirmed now that they’re targeting Thanksgiving weekend (25th-28th) for the final weekend beta test. Currently planning to have the patcher deal with updating the client if you had it from the previous weekend/general beta, and as mentioned, characters should remain as well.

How many days before the actual beta did you guys get a downloader link?

My wife got her email on Wednesday morning the week of the test. So that was 2.5 days or so?

um I joined the bioware forums a million years ago to register my copy of neverwinter nights and then promptly forgot about my login. So I was very surprised to get a beta key for SWTOR today.

I’m more than happy to give it to someone who is actually interested in the game.

PM me if you want it. Hopefully it will work as I have had issues giving unwanted DLC codes to PS3 games to people in the past. Apparently the key will expire in a day or so.

Meanwhile I wait patiently for a diablo III beta invite…

Key is gone.

Rock jaw teased on Twitter that there would be a big reveal tomorrow

Got a beta invite. Couldn’t log on to the swotor site this morning because it was down. Couldn’t log on tonight, possibly because of the password requirement issues. Password change email never arrived. I think I’ll skip the beta.

If these keys are transferable, I’ll happily pass it on.

If the NDA is supposed to keep the stories from being spoiled, won’t there be a raft of sites posting spoilers, videos, and databases on launch day?

If people would read spoilers now, why won’t they read them on day one?

BioWare could simply lift the NDA on game mechanics, impressions, etc., and say that story elements are still NDA’d.

I was the recipient of two beta keys, one for me and one for a friend to join, or so the e-mail says. If anyone wants the second code let me know.

I may or may not know what this is (probably not) but in my experience, reveals like this disappoint more often than not.

My bet is that they will reveal* you can use an in-game store to purchase Midchlorians!

  • not really

The announcement is that the NDA will last after the game launches. No discussions allowed!

I’m actually wondering if they might not lift the NDA today. There’s a fan site embargo that’s getting lifted at 12p Eastern. It’s not completely crazy to think they might lift the general testing NDA shortly after that.

The popular trend these days is to make an announcement of an announcement.

Say, is there any way to download the Beta wihout an official link? My internet is damn slow and I would like to have the art assets on my machine so I only have to patch up for open beta and not download the whole thing shorty before the start and loosing playtime because of it.

You could check the torrent sites I bet they have the client

The ban on the Fan Site summit has been lifted, and TORWars has revealed the existence of a PvP zone on Tatooine where you can kill anyone, even your own faction. It’ll have max level resource nodes, chests that spawn and a rare spawn vendor that can also be killed.

I win…so long NDA.

Now things get interesting…everyone. Talk at once!
