You’d rather hit the 404 page instead? o_O

oh good, I can’t change my security questions without answering them

If the downloader works prior to RSVP - I didn’t think mine did - then by all means start downloading immediately, but an RSVP may still be required to put you into the “when do you get to log-in to the game” lineup that is supposedly going to be in place this weekend to test the early access staggering.

aaaannnndddd the help line has a message that just says “call back later”

I love this game so far!

the installer does nothing for me. it unpacks/unrars to temp folder and runs the setup.exe but nothing happens. no setup processes start since i can delete the installer and the installswtor folder.

I just put it up so that people who, in theory, can download it don’t HAVE to go to the site and log in, etc.

Oh, I wasn’t ragging you. I was using the installer from SWTOR’s website.

I also tried earlier this weekend with the same file from my friend and the same big-ol-nothing happened.

Really weird. Not sure why they’d care if you’re in the test.

30 minutes on hold so far!

Of course their website is down and useless.

I have to manually extract the contents of the .rar file and run launcher.exe.

Try shutting down any running programs you have. The same thing happened to me, but I got it started when I closed fraps.

I had the same problem with FRAPS running - stopped it and the installer ran properly. Make sure you’re not running background programs.

wow, I guess FRAPS was the reason, given that simultaneous post, heh.

Annnd, starting from scratch got 3/4ths of the way through the 13gb again and my launcher crashed. Reloaded, launcher “updated itself,” and it’s at 11.change gb instead of 4 or wherever it was.

If I have to download this again for launch I’ll be pissed. I’m sure I’m going to get dinged 10 or 20 bucks from my terribad ISP as it is, some for the 13gb my over-filled HD cost me this morning.

EDIT: Looks like it’s resuming at 4-5g left after all, just took it a minute to recognize.

My experience is that you usually need around 30 GB free to do the download/install. I was able to update my client in-place, but I vaguely recall I had to download two big files - 13+ GB and then maybe 5 or 6 more? I don’t have a download size cap but my bandwidth is severely limited so I feel everyone’s pain.

As for the timing on their maintenance, it struck me as weird, but I think they’ve scheduled maintenance for 6 PM Eastern until something like 10 PM. All I can guess is that they’re trying to get things in shape for the big weekend and they wanted to have everything in place before Thanksgiving so they can throw a switch to turn everything on. If not that, then I got nothin.

And the website appears to be back now (8:30).

That + EA + Origin + WoW Clone + whatever = why did you preorder man?
People look at me funny because I don’t jump on the latest trendy bandwagon, but really it’s simply a matter of critical thinking.
If SWTOR won’t flunk couple months onto launch then it’ll still be there for you to get onto later if you still care to. And probably at a discount or something, too.

Bioware was always very clear that pre-ordering did not provide any advantage in getting into beta testing. It will allow you to get on earlier on actual release. Actual time will vary depending on when you registered your pre-order code on thw SWTOR website and can be up to 5 days before the actual launch date.

And apparently, at the fan site summit they said if you punched in your code anytime in the first couple of weeks, you’ll be in the full 5 days, which is honestly surprising.

Pre-orders were released in late July. July to December is five months, logical guess is that depending on which month you registered your code correlates to which day you get in.

But, they have said this upcoming stress test will decide how many people they let in each day.

You guys all got the timeschedule and download link in your mails?? I only got the"You are invited to the beta" mail and nothing else.
