Their servers must be getting hammered. Trying to log into the launcher to download the game tells me I have to reset my password (I also got that email a while back but never bothered), but trying to go to the login page on swtor.com just throws up an error saying I’m not logged in. Well no shit, that’s why I’m at the login page. Guess I’m not downloading it tonight. Back to Skyrim~~~~

Of course. I know this isn’t a Conterstrike or CoD-type game that claims any degree of realistic weapons modelling, but do you not find it odd that even in an MMO a sniper character would have identical class abilities, weapon range, damage, etc. as a gunslinger using dual pistols? If it’s indeed the case that they’re only cosmetically different, I’m quite disappointed. :(

As I said in my application, I’m a long time Qt3 lurker (since 2001-ish) and IRL friend of Tom Chick’s. I’m also a WoW veteran and a Star Wars fan (reformed).

On a more personal note, I’m an IP attorney (Bilski is a reference to a recent Supreme Court patent case. It’s kinda interesting subject matter if you want to Wikipedia it), in my 30s, and I have a backlog of PC games that I really am going to get around to soon, and this time I mean it. I applied to the Qt3 guild because I want to play with well educated adults who will play for fun, and not just for purples. I don’t have enough posts on Qt3 to send a pm, so if you have any other questions please send me an email at the address I noted in my application.

I had to download 12 (thought it was 13) gig, then like 6 more afterwards (and have since had maybe 3 <100MB patches).

Yeah I was thinking the 12.4g download was the whole patch, but nope. I think it was a full client replacement. Sure hope it’s good for early launch.

Not only have I not received an email about my start time, my account apparently is locked. I tried to log in to check the status page, and it gave me one of those umpteen secret questions to answer. I answered it–correctly, as far as I can determine–but it refused to take it. Like an idiot I kept entering it, fiddling with capitalization (though I didn’t try rEVERSE caps, which I probably should have), and presto, it’s locked. I called their customer support number as advised on the site–and got a heavily accented Asian voice telling me all reps are busy, call again later, and the then the same message repeated in umpteen languages.

Heh. I guess part of their beta test is to see how well their customer service–outsourced somewhere, no doubt–holds up. Maybe I’ll be able to get my account unlocked before December 20th. I doubt I’ll get it fixed for this weekend.

It was unlocked, yeah, but it locked up again as soon as I entered the answer. Now, I’ve tried every permutation short of AlTeRnAtInG caps or some crap and it still won’t accept. Unless my fingers were off the QWERTY and I completely brainfarted when I entered the answer when I created the questions the first time, I can’t think what’s wrong. I guess I have to wait until a human can be contacted.

Oh, and it let me reset my password, but it keeps asking me the same security question, which apparently I must have entered incorrectly when I created it. Or, rather, the answer I thought I typed was misspelled or something, because I sure as hell know my favorite pet’s name, despite it telling me I don’t.

I wish they would stop fucking up games because they are trying to balance all classes around PVP, which affects PVE.

Just let people enjoy PVP with their Unique Class/Talent spec, but fix stuff for PVE. It doesn’t matter if stuff is “unbalanced” in PVP, it is not supposed to be!

Until you have 5 Bright Wizards AOE’ing a full raid on top of a fortress, there is nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I mean if it is grossly outbalanced but I say the wizard who spent most their early levels flat on the ground deserve a little extra punch later in PVE.
