Huh, the new patch only took 30 second or so for me.

Well, the download client is pretty naff, has gotten stuck with an error several times now. Googling shows quite a few people with same error. Im flying somewhere on Sunday, so might just skip this

Are there multiple servers this time?

I can’t get the damned thing to install.

Please tell me there is a way to turn off the camera lock in this game.

I logged in, sat in the Q line…now it is “loading”. The loading bar is about 1/4 of the way up, and it seems to have hanged up there, nothing else. The game is still running, but nothing is happening. I am not sure if I should restart the game, or just wait it out? It is not a black screen. What is on the screen is “the story so far” from where in the storyline my character is. Should I just shut it down and restart it? Let it go and hopefully it will finish loading up?

Chris

Well, having logged in and checked my Scoundrel, it isn’t deploying automatically when I hit “cover” in the open. I didn’t look around to see if the separate “portable cover” ability is still there, I’ll check and see if it’s still in there but has to be used manually.

Zoom distance is in the camera menu or something, but I didn’t notice any way to remove snap-to-behind-while-running which I prefer to leave turned off.

I thiiiiink this was mentioned on the forums last beta as an issue some people had in servers with queues (I have yet to be stuck in one and couldn’t say.) The post I remembered said to sit there and wait, so maybe if you left and got coffee or something it’d turn out to just be an invisible continuation of the queuing process or whatever. Alternatively if you don’t have chars already on that server I’ve never had issues on Nigut Road.

In other news, they’ve changed how buffs on companions work. They used to lose everything when you dismissed them or used transit, which was a bit annoying if you were playing the “Gotta Collect 'Em All” reciprocal buffing game. Now it appears that whenever your companion is dismissed and recalled (via transit, missions, manually) their buffs are refreshed. Dunno if there’s any hard time limit after which this stops, but on the face of it, it looks like it might be a good idea to use that mechanic carefully to refresh/stack companion buffs at least across each play session.

Yeah, I found the zoom options but not the unlock. That’s gonna drive me crazy.

Odd too that there’s a camera-pivot-when-it-hits-terrain option but not something basic like camera-pivot-on-movement. I’ll put it in some feedback forums as they apply.

I recall reading somewhere that portable cover still exists for Gunslingers/Snipers but not for Scoundrels/Operatives.

there is a turn speed bit under controls that gets rid of the sick turn but my character is lagging back there bit , not entirely but depending on your motion sick levels can be a life saver

there is no way to keep “mouselook” on, however , you can hold down the right mouse button and it will keep looking at what you are doing, problematic but the best we have right now

I haven’t tried the follow target bit yet (if it is doable for everyone or not) saw it in keybindings, wonder if that would give some mouselook issues a rest. At least for targeting/strafing reasons.

Yawn, queue.

So far, I’m loving this. Two complaints so far:

The medpacs are a bit too expensive for how necessary they are on the tougher quests pre-companion.

This game REALLY needs to handle being on a two monitor system better. It minimizes anytime I click away and then has to re-render everything when I go back. Total PITA.

Portable cover is indeed gone from my scoundrel. There’s also a new bug that is making some ambient speech and companion victory cries play at full volume even when they’re like 500m away, which is mildly unsettling.

I’m Wellend, for other Nigut Road Republic folk.

This game is awesome. I almost don’t want to play too much so I can really enjoy my character when the game is released.

Oh yeah and is there a beta guild set up? I’m going to guess not but just thought I’d ask!

I’m trying a healing-focused Mercenary and it’s been fun (though I’m sure my talent choices are probably terrible). Mercs get to choose a type of self-buff to apply to their gun. You can use a +fire damage, a +armor penetration, or one that is more healing focused.

The fun thing about the healing buff is that using it modifies your “free” base attack (the one that doesn’t build up any heat) such that if you shoot a friendly target you heal them. It’s way more fun than I thought to shoot random passer-bys and heal them up (doing this also builds the strength of the buff, so it’s not completely random and goofy to do this).

Does anyone know when this weekend ends? I’m not in until 8pm on Sunday night so I’m not sure if I should even bother.

Though I still think it’s weird you are starting at 8 PM Sunday, the sticky in the testing forum says the weekend test ends November 28, at 11:59 CST. So you’d have Sunday evening and any time you wanted to play on Monday.

I am reading bad signs here.

  • Game company that uses CST for timestamps. This tell me is a company that is not ready to deliver a product to the whole world in real time (read: MMO), and have his head stuck in his californian ass.

  • Yesterday patch note “Server Carellian don’t work, we are investigating why”. I have read absolutelly weird crap about servers. Things like people “losing” servers, able to ping then, but not knowhing where are on the world. Forgotten servers that are enclosed inside rooms withouth doors. Servers stolen “IN YOUR FACE”. But I have never ever read this wording. This wording is a red flag.

  • Strangekend aka “Weekend”. I don’t know what thing are testing by opening the server in waves with lame timeframes. But what are really testing, is the patience of people. I actually don’t know what this mean, because even wen a game company try to use his beta testers as actual testers, the feel is different, so I can’t read what this mean, but is not a good sign.

Just now this game is a “Wellcome to the world of staREAD ALERT, REPEAT, RED ALERT, SERVER ROOM ON FIREr wars. We hope you enjoy your staRED ALERT, LERPS ARE INVADING THE DEV BUILDING KILLING PEOPLE BY HORDESy with us. Please have patience if youRUN FOR THE HILLS, FOOLS, RUN FOR THE HILLS!!r server shows full, we have implemented a queue system, but the queues are usually really short”
