I already had security questions and, thankfully, remembered them when they started chucking them in every time. Best case scenario the new password isn’t working yet for whatever reason.

Mine was working right away, but I followed the instructions in the email like a good Jedi instead of trying to be a cool guy. I hope you learned your lesson: always click on the links in your email.

When I first tried to change- I ran into a lots of problems- password no good, question no good etc…but it worked out finally. It seems that the site gets overloaded quite often and just borks out.

Try later, it will work.

Can anyone link to an official statement saying we can update the beta to retail in a few weeks. Drawing a blank! thanks.

My email is on my home comp and it is off but it said that if you played over the weekend beta, you would just need a patch for retail. I assume someone else will dig up the email before I get home. Not sure if it was posted other than an email to beta testers.

or what Nephrinn said heh

Twittered yesterday.

Well, I’m glad I got a chance to play during this last weekend’s beta. Mostly because I would have never expected to have problems with the controls, but did. Specifically the mouse. It was terrrible. First, with a fairly typical DPS setting on the mouse a slight movement (with right mouse button down) would spin me around, or send the camera up or down wildly. Then, once I lowered the DPS to almost the lowest I could stand it, I could move around alright, but then moving the mouse otherwise was painfully slow.

Now, all that I might have been able to get used to, but the one thing I couldn’t was when I’d right-click on an object to interact with it, or even a click on an NPC or something, my next movement (right-button down, move mouse) I’d suddenly be looking straght down at my character, or straight up into the sky. I’d then have to reorrient my view.

It was just too much to take. I won’t be playing this after all, sad to say.

Do you mean DPI? :)

Did you try adjusting the in-game settings? I gather some people turned turn speed or something like that down, although I was quite happy with the default settings. I definitely never had the camera switch to a straight down view (or anything like that) during item interactions.

Oops, yes, DPI :)

Yep, tried fiddling with the in game settings as well. Nothing I tried made it any better, sorry to say.

Could it be a pointer acceleration issue?

Sorry to hear that. For what it’s worth, I obsess about pointing devices in games like SWTOR, because I struggle with RSI. I used two different mice; a keyboard with a built-in touchpad; a keyboard with a standalone touchpad attached to it; and a Logitech G13 with the joystick set in mouse mode. The mice and touchpads worked great, but I did have to adjust the mouse sensitivity in the SWTOR settings “up” for the touchpad and “down” for the mouse. Sounds like that didn’t work for you, but it instantly cured whatever minor issues I was having.

For what it’s worth, the G13 was too twitchy to use at its default setting; I might have fixed it if I’d had the patience to tweak it, but I didn’t.

More generally, I loved the game. This was my second beta weekend, and I was very taken with it. I think I underestimated how much the voice-acting and stories would draw me in. They made me more attached to my character – I know that sounds corny, but in my case, it was true. Also, the cut-scenes imprinted themselves on my brain, so that (for the most part) I actually remembered why I was gathering doodads or shooting bad guys. I also enjoyed my spaceship, my companion, the PvP, the crafting – pretty much everything. I had virtually no lag, and the game ran at 100 FPS with full graphics settings. Yeah, there were a number of bugs, but none was game-breaking, and my guess is many will be fixed by launch. Above all, I now just have to see what happens to my Sith Warrior, and once I’m done with that, I’ll want to try every other class.

As my forum handle implies, I’m a sci-fi nut, so discount what I say accordingly. (All the same, even I can’t say I loved Star Trek Online.) SWTOR will be my MMO of choice for some time.

amusing is logging into the email I intend to use for launch, that was created just slightly before the last beta weekend but I didn’t do my security questions then, and finding not only beta invite (sent today) for last weekend, but one for the weekend before that.

I am thoroughly amused.

I’m in withdrawal after the 2 beta weekends. I can’t even log into WoW anymore. Bleh.

Maybe it’s that the SWTOR client is just sitting there on one’s HD with all of the goodies on it, but yeah.

twitch

I fire it up once a day…

just in case.

I probably would have left the client running, since it was logged-in and could still see server status, but: boot camp.

Awesome thanks!

Me too. The launcher still has the “Servers Unavailable” message from the end of beta, but it downloads patches anyway, so I figure it’s worth checking once a day just to keep everything current (and who knows, maybe the beta weekend will be magically extended…).
