I rolled a cyborg just to see what they looked like and they have quite a few unappealing choices. For some reason BioWare made most of the facial implants symmetric, so no having only one cyborg eye or such - you get two. And for eyes, they removed the really cool terminator like eyes and put in goofy things like sunglasses.

Ok, so I think, I’ll try one anyway. They do some sort of automatic facial deformation (transformations?) when you talk to NPCs in the quest dialogs. And the cyborg facial implants got all whacked out, looked horrible - there were big clipping issues, and the cheek overlapped the implant and it just looked horrible. If they don’t fix it I can’t imagine being a cyborg, since it looked really terrible (I mean, I’m surprised they would launch with it terrible).

As far as healers go, that writeup seems pretty solid. I know the Sage/Sorcerer appears to be stronger, but two things to keep in mind are that 1. I’ve read people who played level 50 Operatives and Commandos who said they were very good healers, and 2. If indeed Sage/Sorcerer are overpowered right now, they’ll definitely be brought more in line with the others (or the others will be boosted).

A quick thumbnail summary of the healers that I went by was that Mercenery was focused more on steady heals + relied on critical chance, the Operative dealt with HoTs, and Sorcerer was the more traditional priest-like healer.

One thing I do like about Mercenery is the free heal. It’s always fun to shoot people with your gun, and their free heal uses the default attack - instead of an enemy you shoot a friendly. Always good for a laugh when you’re running around randomly in a safe or lowbie area.

I created a cyborg for the Sith faction, she had one eye replaced. I do wish there were more choices so you can mix and match better.

I didn’t dislike the character creator, but it did make me constantly wish for, say, twice as many as everything. Both to keep the NPC variability up and allow for slightly finer char creation. There weren’t quite enough complexions, for example; I didn’t want totally blank or “heavy drinker” or “sunburned with goggles.”

The cyborg clipping stuff sucks and I hope they sort it out ASAP - although I don’t think I could deal with that kind of ugly anyway, given the amount of time you spend admiring yourself in dialogues.

Sort of the opposite of Skyrim where you spend an hour hand-crafting your face that you never see ever.

Would someone who has downloaded the installer be willing to share it? If so, PM me, please… I uninstalled the beta and deleted the installer, but stupidly didn’t check the website before doing so (it’s down, and I don’t know when it’ll be back).

edit: nevermind!

Michael, it may not matter. When I tried to log in a few hours ago their login servers were down so even if you were to get the installer you wouldn’t be able to log in to download the updates.

Login seems up. I don’t have access to FTP space etc. If you have somewhere to upload it let me know.

I patched mine a few minutes ago without any problems so some servers seems to be alive.

The website came back – got it. Thanks!

Not logging in, but eh, progress…

I get a “server not responding” error when i try to log in to the client.

Coming up normally for me, although since I’m all patched up that just amounts to a whirring noise and greyed-out play button.

503 here; installation client reports server not responding.

Oh well. I’m in for this game, though I should know better. Kill 20 brown womp rats. No, not the gray ones, dumbass, the brown ones. You can’t prove your worthiness to the princess with gray pelts, are you kidding?

Hm. Guess I’ll try a smuggler first.

Hi guys, fellow Grenzlander here to Jason, thought I’d post up since I’ll be (hopefully!) rolling on the same server. I had been wanting to apply to the QT3 guild but I had beforehand created a guild that, unfortunately, fell through - and now the TOR site won’t let me disband it!
Either way, been following the development of this game since it was announced in 2007, and it should be awesome. :)

Login and download are working now. Off to the races…

No such missions here. You’ll be pleasantly surprised :D

Do you guys get a :No active subscription on this account" message?

Yep. That’s expected, until early access begins (I saw the @SWTOR Twitter account answer that question earlier, and mine is doing the same now that it’s installed).

Good, I had a hell of a time with my pre order, 3 hours spent with EA tech not fun lol

That would depend on how you are comparing them.
Feature wise, SWTOR is 6 years behind which I think will be a major issue for them in a few months time.

Edit:
Oh, another patch.
Good to have a daily ritual of launching the SWTOR client just to patch it up for release.

For things like LFG and say world phasing, sure, but I would posit that if you’re a typical casual WoW player (log on, do a dungeon, do some questing, maybe a little PVP now and then) you will love SWTOR - especially with its focus on the single-player experience (which to be sure, is how a lot of MMO players experience their MMOs these days).
