Try Loremaster or 3000 quests on a Death Knight in WoW for grey quest grinding fun of doom…
I did both. I still have nightmares.
Hehe. Achieved on the 25th of June 2010 ;) But I was max level at the time, and it wasn’t a “storyline mission” that I needed to complete. Still: WoW’s way of doing that back in the days (and possibly still) was also horrible. At least these days you get extra gold if you complete it when you cant gain any XP.
Sure; If you want to give people extra XP for completing a quest if they are lower level, go ahead, but the quest should never give LESS than it would if you completed it while at the quests level.
When LOTRO introduced reputation, they retroactively gave you all the REP from the quests you had done, and also any XP you were missing.

Try getting rep from the quests before they changed it that quests gave max rep!

Are you so addicted to your instant-gratification don’t-talk rush-rush-rush style of content consumption that you can’t see that catering to it creates serious negative externalities in the game world?
And yes, I actually do enjoy sending/responding to LFGs.
No, I simply don’t think that the negative externalities you talk about are at all important. It’s a game, not a world, and I play them to spend time doing things that I don’t do in the real world. Not spending fifteen minutes commuting to the dungeon.
And yes, I actually do enjoy sending/responding to LFGs.
And I enjoy playing the game, not wasting time talking to random people that I’ll never talk to again or ever meet in the real world. If you want a chat room, then go find imvu.
You are also forgetting that, a LFD system complements the LFG that people use in chat.

You know what else is an adventure? Go outside and walk around.
talking to random people in a mmo is kind of boring.
SWTOR’s instance group consist of 4 people, companion included, which makes it very easy to run it with one or two friends. so I don’t mind not have auto-queue, but I wish they will implement the feature that port all your group member to the entrance of flashpoint.
Simply because going to the flashpoint entrance is a BOOOORING trip. all of the flashpoint entrances is located at your main fleet with their entrance(swirling portal) set in a half circle fashion in a big room. The only flashpoint entrance that differ from other is the first one, the first one have it’s own corridor(OH SHIT), that’s part of hanger that take you to your 2nd planet.

Its two wholly different approaches to the game we are playing. You are not wrong in wanting your game the way you want it, but a lot of people aren’t happy about it, and surely you can understand the arguments?
I’ve looked briefly at the wow threads here, and a lot of the things I see is “well, I ran a new heroic today with a bunch of strangers - no-one said a word, and it took 10 minutes without any troubles, and was boring”.
Thats the kind of stuff I want to avoid.
To be honest, my experiences in SWTOR with grouping has been extremely fun - the storyline missions actually encourage people talking together, and everyone I played with was awed at how they played out, and we talked about it a lot. This was in beta, with people I never will meet again, but we had a ton of fun.

Me too. I was a fucking demon at quickly pulling together a group for an instance run, pre Group Finder. And I had some great experiences doing it too.
I was referring to the “kill X brown rats, not X yellow rats” type quests. Most of the stuff is “deploy bombs” or “collect equipment” and, of course, the bonus missions which are just “kill X dudes”.
SWTOR also has plenty of quests from the genre “Oh hey, remember that dungeon/cave/warehouse you were just in when you were killing all of that stuff for this quest? Why don’t you go back to that exact same spot and do a thing right next to where you were?” Blerg.
Haven’t had that happen to me.
Never ran into this in 40+ hours of playing except for times I missed a quest-giver the first time around.
I just want to point out how BAD an idea it is to have a LFG tool. A small tool, one that lets you see what other players there are waiting to do a dungeon and listing their role is a good one, and it has to make sure that it remains in-realm. As soon as you start doing an automated “Push-to-Group” button, you start catering to the lazy players that seem intent on doing a 40-minute Flashpoint in 10-minutes because “they have to go have dinner soon”. It was the thing that killed WoW, and I’m hoping they don’t implement it in TOR.
For me! It was the thing that killed WoW for me :P Obviously it isn’t dead. But yeah, LFG tool, especially a cross-server one, is a bad idea.

Opinion is like an asshole etc etc etc…
I think I need to stop discussing Pro and Con of a starwar franchise with someone with darth in their handle.

I don’t disagree with you completely, but just thinking about going back to a FFXI-type of system where you spend 2-4 hours just trying to get a group makes me dizzy.
WoW wasn’t that bad when I was in a big guild, but it would’ve been kinda crappy if I hadn’t been (back in vanilla/BC before LFG).
This has nothing to do with Star Wars, this has to do with gameplay and MMO interactions.
Assumption makes an ass etc. etc.
Well in the beta I had no problem finding a group. Later on, when most people have reached max level on more than one character, I’m sure that an LFG tool for lower-end content would be nice, as the amount of players doing that content will be less. That being said, the reward for re-rolling alts is much more substantial on TOR, so I will wait to see how much of an issue that is.

gameplay and MMO interactions
LFG makes it easier for people to group up and experience content.
Cross-realm LFG actually is even better since you can make friends with people from other server and join them in their adventure!!!
The whole concept of LFG kill community is retarded. all it did was giving people more options.
