Hmm, this makes me want to cancel my preorder and go elsewhere. I wonder if Best Buy or Target would be any better?

My Amazon order says shipped and arriving tomorrow.

I put in a post yesterday talking about how much I love the game. But I think it got lost amid all the bitching by some posters about pre-order access.

I think it’s some of Bioware’s best work to date. It’s really a classic, old school (pre-Mass Effect, i.e., non-shooter) Bioware game. Great storyline, leveling and combat is IMO fun (although I’ve never played WoW, so perhaps, I’m not burned out on that play style, although I have played LotRO to level 65 and STO up to 45, and Rift to 50 along with some AoC).

They really were not kidding when they said it’s like KotOR 3, KotOR4, KotOR 5, … up to KotOR 10.

That’s my opinion so far with about 24-hours of post release play and maybe about 10-12 hours of beta play.

Same here. As one of the detractors who snubbed it off as being a WoW clone, I’m fucking impressed.

I’m saying this after buying just about EVERY MMO that has come out since WoW and always walking away feeling disappointed, ripped off, and angry. This is the first time I’m seeing hope as SWTOR being the MMO I stay with for longer than a month and possibly longer than WoW. It’s that good.

Now THAT’S what I want to hear! :)

So far it is really fantastic. As I never was much of an “endgame” gamer i am
loving the unique story approach to bits. Thats 8 characters to level, so it will keep me busy for quiet some time.

If the General chat is channel number one you can type “/leave 1” or just “/leave general” in the chat window, which I find easier than using the menu. Also nice that you can just type “/join general” when you are getting close to a group quest objective so you can see if anyone is asking for help on that particular quest.

Alternatively right-click on one of the dialog tabs and there’s a chat settings dialog you can bring up. Although I’ve had some trouble with trying to create a custom chat tab that only shows our Guild Traffic – not sure what I’m doing wrong there. I did use it to create a tab with all the standard stuff, minus General chat.

Today’s plot thickens:

Additional Waves:

[ul]
[li]Bonus Wave 1 (1PM EST): November 27th[/li]> [li]Bonus Wave 2 (2:20PM EST): December 1st[/li]> [li]Bonus Wave 3 (3:15 EST): December 3 [Formerly (3PM EST): December 7th][/li]> [li]Bonus Wave 4 (TBD):[/li]> [/ul]

New Wave. EDIT:

Can you tell I have been totally unproductive at work and have replaced it with only mediocre production in this thread?

EDIT: Also, here is a forum update.

We’ve been listening, and after doing another deep review of our platform infrastructure, we’re taking action. Today, we’re announcing a two day grace period for Star Wars: The Old Republic customers.

This means that everyone who pre-ordered and is in the Early Game Access program has forty-eight hours from launch in which to enter their product registration code, which will be found inside the physical Standard and Collector’s Editions of the game; for digital editions of the game from Origin.com, the registration code will have been emailed to you after December 16th and will arrive before December 19th at 11:59PM EST. After December 22nd 12:01AM EST, you will be required to have a valid payment method and a product registration code registered to your account to continue to play.

I tried that right off the bat, and got a list of available commands from a Help menu because it didn’t recognize “Leave.”

So if I order tonight any chance I get in early?

At this rate, everyone should get in tomorrow up through today’s pre-orders one would think.

12/5 preorder and I’m in

That’s weird, it worked for me in beta. I just used all of the same commands I use in WoW with no problem.

They just sent a new wave out at 3:00 Central (a few minutes ago). They say it’s the final wave… frantically checking my email to see if I lucked out or if I’m waiting until tomorrow morning to get in. (Dec 12th registration date. Doubting I’m in based on previous waves moving at 3 - 4 days per wave)

Don’t bother looking in your email, just fire up the client and log in. That’s what I did. I still haven’t gotten my email.

Bioware’s position on this has changed several times and been generally confusing, but it’s official now: there will be a 48 hour grace period.

Edit: and I see this has been posted.

Easy to miss in my garbled posts that I edit 10 times.

Good news. My daughter has a low grade fever and I might stay home with her tomorrow. ;)

I want to know who decided who gets to get in. My father and I registered our codes on the same day, 12/9, and he got in yet I haven’t gotten in. Kind of irritated with this.

The random number generator look like this:

   o <-- ball of fate

   #
  # #
 # # #
# # # #
        \you here

If the ball fall in the last position, you will be choosed, else… other person.

Disregard that my draw look like a XMax tree.
