Indeed, but the assumption is that “That other guy” won’t do this.

I’m going to make a character on the Harbinger server - that’s where both side guilds are on, correct?

I’d like to join as the good side, are many folks from here on it? What’s the guild name, and how do I go about getting an invite? I’ll post my name once I secure it on the server tonight/tomorrow AM.

Just as a warning, Harbinger currently has a 2+ hour queue during prime time.

Here’s the thread for the Republic guild: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=67704

Ok now it has one :) 129 people. ~10 minutes.

I’m sure this has come up before but I’m not able to find it. So I know how to switch item mods in and out but let’s say you mouseover a weapon and see “Mod (8), Hilt (8)” in the description. What is the “(8)”? Is that an indicator of the quality of what is currently in that slot or some kind of maximum quality that the slot is able to hold?

The majority of servers have no waiting now. There are a bunch with 15-20 minute waits. We’ve still got an hour wait, but we’re not the longest, just the second to the longest. The lucky winner is The Swiftsure which still has a 1 hour and 50 minute wait!

I’ve been wondering that myself. However, AFAIK slots do not have a maximum quality on them.

Glad to hear that TOMB (EU) isn’t the only server with Queues.

Guildies complained about 4 hour queues last night… queues started at around 15-16 (CET) and lasted until at least 02 in the night.

Good to see a game with instances has queues… and that you get so much information about the servers from their web page and the in game lister.

Finally got my ship. Pretty cool stuff. Hopefully i can actually test it tomorrow without being in queue all day long. Am not hoping for much.

4 hours! Good lord! I can see putting up with an hour by coming home, logging in, then eating dinner. But with 4 hours, you’ll come home, log in, then come out of the queue just in time for bed!

Yeah, my friend and I choose that PVP server as well, which was a bad move. Its the biggest queued server it seems on Europe, so I started on one the rp-pvp server instead.

I had a chance to check the crafting trainer and there are level 48 light sabers that you can craft. You can also craft level 50 relics.

I have notice that wen you “buy” a skill, theres not animation, not cutscene, nothing. The trainer… or you, don’t even move his hands. The game would be better if some of this trainers where in a personal instance, and the trainer show you how to use a power in a more active way.

Also, I am tryiing to play in first person mode, but the FOV is way too low.

Seems that if you don’t do the “optional” grind, you fall behind the power curve. 4 level 10 mobs vs a level 8, and the level 8 is toasted (this is me, 1 min and 15 seconds ago).

UPDATE:

I was partly wrong. Skill vendors have a tiny animation wen teach a skill.

Okay, I got my code from Origin now. What a mess of a mail. Its just a mass confusion of text, numbes, and links that arent links all jumpled together without any paragraphs or sentence spacing at all.

I think they wanted to send me an html mail, but forgot to actually make it an html mail somehow.

Yes, no.

Numbers are quality level. Note that a “green” 8 has lower stats than a “blue” 8 which has lower stats than a “purple” (epic) 8.

Mod slots aren’t limited by what level mod they can take but by the absence of all/some slots altogether so that certain attributes of the piece are stuck to original values. “Orange” (fully moddable) items have no such limitation, so if you find one you like the look of, you never have to dump it.

Being as I have not created any large MMOs lately, I still think that this would be a solution that would benefit everyone, and require very little development time.

a) Let you QUEUE from the Launcher, so you didn’t have to have the game running, and that way have more system resources available to play other games or do other stuff while queued.

b) Let you QUEUE for one server while playing on another. This way you can actually spend your paid subscription time playing the game, instead of paying to queue. Heck, this way you might even get people to migrate to other servers naturally, as they find out the game experience on their ‘backup server’ was more enjoyable.

Once the queue on your “Primary” server is up, just have a notification in the game saying “Tomb of Freedon Nadd is ready to play. Click YES to login to this server”.

So, any of you tech-savy development people out there care to comment on this, and ask yourself why noone has implemented such a solution?

Sure, the queue will then look like it is twice as long, as people would be queued while playing on other servers, but it would also drop much quicker as people declined the queue. And an additional rule could be set that you could only queue this way from the server screen, so if you login and decline, you’ll have to log to the server screen to requeue.

Queue on Freedon Nadd today was 600, 1 hour at 10:40 CET.

Great ideas instant. That first one would be a big help to me. SWTOR doesn’t crash on alt-tab, but it clearly is straining my resources. I’m seriously starting to think I should be running a 64-bit OS and have more than 4GB of memory.

I have a question about the beta launcher. When having the beta launcher installed after the 25th of November, do you still need to purchase a copy of The Old Republic to play it? The reason I’m asking is because I logged in, the launcher patched, as it should, and the only thing it alerted me of was that I didn’t have a subscription activated. So I was wondering if you could just click play and then log into your account after choosing a payment method?

If you’ve got a pre-order code entered and you’ve received the invite e-mail you can play from now until IIRC 48-hours after launch. At that time, you’ll have to enter in a real retail code.

At this point, you won’t be able to play without getting a retail code. Not only do they want your monthly fee, they want you to put in $50 up front by purchasing a retail (or digital) copy.
