I too am in love with this game. I played from sun up to past midnight yesterday and had to yank myself away from the computer to go to bed. Haven’t done that in an MMO since WoW.
After the multitude of failures before it, I do believe we might just finally have ourselves a winner.
Triple damn this forum and the posting lag.
Honestly, that’s pretty much the Star Wars aesthetic at work.

Not one single quest to rolled 10 bear asses. (I don’t count the bonus kill missions since they are, well extra and pretty much you get them done as you are doing another quest anyway)
That is really all I need for a good MMO.
Oh as for Smuggler, definitely squishy fun. I was pondering Corso’s harpoon but yeah, I guess you are right, he really does hold aggro well so I suppose I will just get used to it.
The music is fantastic too.
Ah, good info on the PvP. I can’t wait to give it a go. Basically I put in about 30 hours just to get my ship. And I finally did. Heh, I have been so spoiled by the leveling speed in wow. I am level 14 right now. Had I spend this much time on a WoW toon, I would have been somewhere around 30 I imagine.

Hey Reemul! Get on RP-PvP server (Lord Calypho) where I am then. I have a friend there as well, and DKdartagnan is there as well.

I think I’m enjoying my Powertech more than my Sith Assassin so far. Stealth is fun and all, but I’m trying a tank spec for my SA, and I’m finding it hard to close the range to get to the fight before others are firing off blasters and missiles and lightning and what-have-you. Even solo, the SA feels like it needs something, perhaps akin to the Sith Warrior’s combat leap.
My Powertech, OTOH, is just loads of armored up shooty goodness. Attacks at all ranges, tons of AoE, cool-looking heavy armor, he’s just a blast (ha!) to play. My main problem is planning out his progression - I’m probably going to primarily tank spec, but I can’t decide whether to put other points into Prototype or Pyro, as they both look good.
At this point, I’m pretty sure my Powertech is my main, and my SA will likely be my primary alt. I’ve rolled up a Sith Warrior (likely Juggernaut) and an Imperial Agent (likely Sniper), but haven’t put any time into them yet. OTOH, for super long queues on Harbinger, my Trooper on Zaalbar might end up being my primary alt.
I also find it interesting that I plan out alignments as part of my alts, as well. I’ve noticed that storylines can change depending on light/dark side choices made in conversations.
I was finally able to free myself of the Taris memory leak bug, last night. It’s pretty much a showstopper, and while it’s a very high priority bug for the devs, if you get caught in it, CS will not help you out. So if you go to Taris, here are some suggestions to minimize it’s effects.
- Put the “Emergency Fleet Pass” ability on your hotbar and don’t use it. This is your “get out of Taris bug for free” card.
- If you start to get an unusual amount of lag when crossing zones, opening your map, or going into buildings, you are probably going to get hit by this bug soon. You can avoid it by untracking all your quests and unchecking your map options before entering buildings (especially the starport and crater base).
- If you are unfortunate enough to get hit by the bug and your framerate permanently drops to 0.5 or so, shut the game down and start it back up. Use your “Emergency Fleet Pass” ability and you should be free. If not, restart and get back to the character select screen. In settings, disable sound, drop the resolution to 800x600, and use the lowest graphics settings. Shut down any programs you have running in the background. Now select the character and get back into the game. Hit the ‘L’ button. Move the mouse over one of the lighted mission buttons and wait for it to get brighter. Click on it once, and wait until the light goes out. Repeat until all the missions are untracked. Restart, and you should be fine. After this, avoid Taris until they fix the problem.

Curious, whenever I targeted an opponent over 30 it gave me the you can’t harm this player notification. Only targets below 30 seemed to be taking damage from my attacks. However, these same targets I couldn’t damage were killing me without any problems.

Is that openworld pvp? If the idea is not brackets and you have hit that in a bg, is by definition a bug

No, Warzone. However, I only got a chance to play one time, and being the first time it was also chaotic. Will need to play a couple more times and track the notifications to truly define what is happening.

Tatooine, Bonus series Heroic 4 quest.
Kill 50 Sand raider main quest, not a bonus quest.
I have a screenshot, but i’m too lazy to post it up.

It was only really bad for me until I finish my class quest on taris, so I just took off at 35 or so, wish I could have stick around for rest of the quest.

I don’t think the “optional” quests are optional.
If you only do the main quest, you will be underleveled, and you will start dyiing a lot. So you will be forced to go back and do something to level up more. And with something, I mean the optional quest, and perhaps pvp, and… I don’t know… crafting xp? that one come very slow… The quest are optional, the grind is not.
Swtor is not a honest game, but is not a good liar either.

Play more space missions!

This. I personally find them an amusing distraction between planet side missions, and doing the space battle dailies adds up to be quite a bit of experience.
As of last night, I’m level 21 (completed Ord Mantell and Coruscant, part way through Taris) and have yet to see even one “Kill X quantity of Y mob” quest. There’s been plenty of that as optional bonus objectives, but it’s not required to complete the quest (although since I’m an obsessive completionist, I treat every bonus objective as if it were a requirement anyway…).
Questing seems very reminiscent of side objectives in KOTOR or Mass Effect. Travel to a location, fight some enemies along the way, then interact with a person or object (usually a computer terminal) at the end. I can’t stress enough how much the interactive and fully-voiced dialogue really sets this game apart, though. It really does feel like you’re playing a traditional single-player RPG only in an MMO setting.
Question re: the space combat: is it possible to do these in a coop group, or are they single-player only?

Well technically you don’t have to do the bonus missions because well they are bonus missions -I guess I should have been more clear- I have hit level 14 and I have not been actually given a quest like that by a quest giver.
Yes they hide it well I suppose but when they pop up, it is not as if it takes much more than finish fighting in that area to finish the quest you are on and you will get the bonus quest done.
MMmm, space missions- just got my ship and haven’t had a chance to try. Looking forward to it.
Same here walTer. And MarchHare, they are currently single player but they’re planning co-op and PvP additions.

Battle droid is like my most hated enemy in SWTOR…
Silver Elite alpha strike with stupid Rockets for like 3000 damages.
