You can’t permanently lose a companion. The one you have is either dead, dismissed or out on a mission. Click the box in the lower left hand corner of the screen. If they’re not on a mission, summon them. If you can’t summon them, that means they’re dead somewhere. Simply dismiss them, then summon.

If you sent them out on a crafting mission, there will be a countdown timer in the companion part of the UI.

Ah, hmmm. Mine says “Invalid Character” when I hover over his icon and clicking left or right does nothing, no menu etc… Can’t do anything with him in the crew window either. I have relogged, obviously since the servers were down last night, and tried two different PCs.

Forgot to add that he did this (the invalid character thing) right after I first got him at level 4 until I was about 8 and that was story related so I thought this was too and I missed something.

The races I’ve seen are all pretty boring looking. Human, red human, red human with spikes, human with computery looking things on their face, snow white human with tattoos, blue human, green human, human with blindfold. The twi’lek are the only vaguely non-human looking race, and even there it is “human with head tentacles instead of hair”.

the flashpoint design in SWTOR is Age of Conan-ing me…

The first one at lvl 10 black talon is great, it contains ton of conversation, different ending, you gain a lot of social point grouping in that one.

every flashpoint after that contain almost next to zero dialog, you barely get any social point because how little option there to choose from. it’s basically just kill group of mob, kill boss, kill group of mob, kill boss, choose light/dark option(no dialog either), kill final boss, no exit out of flashpoint, so you have to exit to character select and log back in again.

there are occasionally trade skill usage in flashpoint that open up quick route to boss(skip trash fight!!!), but nothing major either.

after 2nd flashpoint, I haven’t found a quick way to exit flash point from imperial side yet, no exit on atriss, no exit on mandolarian raider either, for the mandolarian raider I can just jump out of ship and fall to my death, but there are no quick way to suicide for Atriss.

I won’t be able to log in until 7 or 8pm EST tonight. I put my chances of actually playing quite low. That’s two nights in a row with the primetime maintenance last night. I’m rather annoyed. I guess it is a testament to the game that I want to play this badly.

there are occasionally trade skill usage in flashpoint that open up quick route to boss(skip trash fight!!!), but nothing major either.

after 2nd flashpoint, I haven’t found a quick way to exit flash point from imperial side yet, no exit on atriss, no exit on mandolarian raider either, for the mandolarian raider I can just jump out of ship and fall to my death, but there are no quick way to suicide for Atriss.

There are other flashpoints at higher level which have the same branching and production values as the level 10 ones.

Not at launch. They mentioned same-sex relationships being added later. The higher a companion’s affection for you, the quicker they do things. I don’t know if it impacts how well they do things, but they will carry out tasks more quickly.

My experience comes from beta. I only made to level 38 or so, but at the time I only encountered two flashpoints. One at level 10, the other at level 30. The level 30 Imperial flashpoint is White Nova. There is a complimentary quest on the Republic side. The non-branching flashpoints are new to me.

Also much like Dragon Age or KOTOR, higher affection will open up companion quests.

On a side note, are there options to make your companion lose more affection than 1 or 5? So far the gains seem huge (30-50) sometimes while the negatives are very tiny. It’s almost like it doesn’t matter and any way you treat your companion will end up with them really really liking you or loving you. For instance, shocking the twilek should result in more than a -1 per shock if a minor compliment to someone she doesn’t even know results in a +30. If you don’t think so, try wearing a shock collar sometime and see if it only elicits a frown per knee-scraping shock.

I had a massive -100 loss with Mako, so yes there are large losses in companion affection.

Not sure if the ones that are in the game by default will be updated, as I imagine that would require them to get the same voiceactors back to record more dialogue.

Who knows. They stated they didn’t do it due to lack of time, so the may do the same voice actors or they may do whole new ones. Shrug. We’ll find out. If they are keeping the SWTOR team on board, they must have big plans.

There’s a tiny icon at the top of your minimap, in the lower right of the HUD, that zones you out of the flashpoint when you press it.
