it’s pretty well documented that any kind of sexual relations leads to the dark side.

The downloader/installer is still broken for me from stress test beta. Unpacks itself after running and does absolutely nothing. Anyone else run into this?

Looks like it’s Microsoft’s MSI/MSIEXEC issues.

I know this is true in the Star Wars universe, and its recounted in a tedious early Jedi quest in SWTOR, but it’s even more insane than the whole midiclorian thing. Who can possibly have approved this notion?
And yet there are 4th generation (or more) Jedi, as Satele Shan is Bastila’s descendant…
Er…woops!

Isn’t it more a Jedi Order dictate rather than actually leading to the dark side. I take it as an example of Jedi blindness even in that early Jedi quest.

Yeah, I thought the quest pretty clearly spelled out that it’s the emotional attachments that make romance dangerous.

One of your relic slots will likely be filled with a Matrix Cube, which is not related to your Light/Dark rating, but if you want the extra stats from that 2nd relic slot you need to pick a side right now.
But yeah, I find myself picking Dark Side options when the Light Side option also seems pretty damn evil or closer to my personal brand of evil, but it’s actually punitive in game terms to not always pick whatever they’ve deemed to be the Darkest option.
Sometimes it really annoys me because they seem to assume that anything that is pro-Sith is automatically Dark Side. My character is not Sith and does not like the Sith, but the game assumes that to be chaotic, evil, and treacherous I must to support the Sith in their every endeavor.
Why do the Sith have Star Destroyers? These are REPUBLIC ships, also from Ep 2.)
You could be charitable and say that the Republic cruisers in Ep. 2 looked the way they did because Palpatine was inspired by designs from the ancient Sith Empire. Or you could just accept that the game’s concept artists simply made some concessions to the lore simply because it’s cool. :)

Pretty much sums up SWTOR’s entire design aesthetic. I try not to think about it.

My peeve is how they make assumptions to motivation. I double-crossed some guy when he sent me to kill someone because he gave me misleading information: I wanted to kill him for that. Instead, in this whole mire of murder-for-hire, i got light side points because I didn’t keep the contract, wtf? My motivations were greed and revenge: compassion wasnt anywhere even on the radar.
Yeah, that kind of stuff bugs me, too, particular for Imperial Agents and Bounty Hunters. Both of them have very different motivations, and frequently, trying to make their actions fit into the hole of ‘did a nice thing’ (light side points!) or ‘gasp oh noes you shot a dude’ (dark side points) are flat out crazy. Why in the world am I getting dark side points for shooting two people who jumped me in a space port? Who the hell thought that self defense is the path to the dark side?

The Sith ships in KOTOR were pretty Star Destroyerish as well.

So, what DO you want? A gamemaster to change the game and conversations according to whatever personality you attribute to your specific character? Or a soulless game where the quests are text without anything remotely interesting in the way of choices.
He wants it to work the way he thinks it should, obviously.

Some problems are worth having. SWTOR makes you think, maybe not on the way a moralist would want too. Like… I normally think my character is better than the imperials because dont kill civilians. But is not true, my char has killed hordes of scientist, bandirs and other random civilian people. What this show is that my char is on a high horse, the sith are evil, but my faction is acting in a asshole way because feel supported by the whole we are the good guys. …

The aggravating part is that the game rewards you for going all Dark or all Light without there being a middle ground worth a damn. Nothing changes in your story arc for picking one ending to a mission over another, but the fact that ever taking the opposing viewpoint from whatever Bioware has decreed is the path to the Dark (or Light) Side double-penalizes you is horrendous. Occasionally the Dark Side option has you going full retard or acting mindless which is annoying, and if you ever double-cross a Sith that’s automatically Light Side points, but if you break your promise to anybody else in the galaxy it’s auto-Dark.
Also, and correct me if I’m wrong because I’d like to be wrong here, but I had read that currently there is a cap to the number of Dark and Light points you can acquire. It’s possible that if you ever gain too many of the opposing points you can currently become barred from ever using the max Dark or Max Light equipment, because it’s impossible to lose points once acquired.

all the dark/light equipment is just a nice reward, I’ve not seen any gear with dark/light on BIS lists.

Okay someone has to do it, and it might as well be me then, since no-one else seems to step up!
Maintenance for european servers in the middle of the day? Because its a good time for the US servers to be taken down?
Thats a big blunder, Bioware!! Step up your game! I predict F2P in 2 months!
rage, frothing rage!
As wonky as BioWare’s stripped-down and “square peg, round hole” morality system is in SWTOR, I think it works better than it has in some of their single-player games. It does add another layer of involvement for the player, and I enjoy it. I do, though, also agree that sometimes it’s a whole lot of WTF?
It’s not a good time for us either. I’ve been twiddling my thumbs for hours. Since I had some free time, I thought I would catch up on this thread.
I’ve been working on my jedi shadow and I think I finally made it to Taris without losing Qyzen to the “unknown” bug and it only took rerolling and doing 1-16 three times. Both previous times, soon as I landed on Taris, boom, no more Qyzen and I just can’t solo without him. I just about broke a keyboard after it happened the second time.
With regards to bioware thinking we don’t want to listen to our own character speak alien all the time, screw you bioware and shove that lazy stick up your ass. I’m so tired of being coddled. Same thing applies to the ‘clone trooper’ look. My wife, who doesn’t game, watched the intro movies and was like “wait, isn’t this long before jango gets cloned? WTF are those? Why does he look like jango?” Sigh.
