Where are you guys getting patch notes?

The Diplomacy mission skill can be used to get light or dark side points. So it’s possible you can patch up your reputation using Diplo if you’ve made choices you regret.

The early worlds seem to have a lot of nodes for slicing. You get a few hundred for each of those. Additionally, there is a level 50ish pvp zone. Mostly empty of players. It has a bunch of high level nodes. As far as the missions for slicing, you’ll get a few payoffs and the rest are break-even or even losses. Ten missions you’ll likely see one green or a blue and the rest white cases. Meaning at high level, you make ~10k for ten missions.

You can do daylies that give you light pointts and social points. Hammer station FTW.

Diplomacy can award more points, but the uncertainty is about caps: if there is a set maximum # of points possible, can you ever obtain the maximum dark/light rating once you have too many offsetting points on the other side?

Something I discovered last night: when you look at a modded item, the mods have a parenthetical number after them like (22). That number is the level you have to be to use it +1. I was having a devil of a time with opening up the item to decide if I wanted a mod for a reward or not, knowing that the parenthetical number must mean something but not knowing how to compare to the mouseover of a mod (which doesn’t have that number anywhere) to it.

I really wish that when it compared items, it would compare mods to each other without having to open the modding window, and while I’m wishing that it would compare items with those of your companion as well.

Not sure if everyone knows this, but cancelling a companion’s mission gives you your credits back. I am not sure if it the exact same amount as I did not check before and after, but based on the level I was doing both times, it seemed about right.

I’m not sure if it’s true, but I’ve heard that if you hit the cap on either light or dark side, that the opposing points drop to zero. I’ll be testing that out on one of my characters in the next few days.

As for slicing, the rewards are fine but the problem is that there are players running slicing missions 18+ hours a day. I would have actually liked to have seen a diminishing rewards system in place for slicing, where the amount made per mission decreased the more missions that were run in any given day. It would need to be synced across all an account’s characters on the server to prevent abuse. That way people who can only play a few hours a day can still get a decent benefit from slicing, and the credit infusion is controlled by the degree of diminishing returns.

This is just one of the UI idiosyncrasies that they really need to fix. In general the handling of UI windows is super poor - they jump around to random unexpected places and it’s impossible to know which windows can be open together and which can’t.

And for the love of god we need a target of target frame.

Can’t help with comparing mods, but there’s an option in the preferences that also shows your companions equipment when comparing.

I find the Consular storyline to be horrible, absolutely horrible. I just want to kill the old bitch and be done with it.

Wow, really? I kinda like it…but to be fair it was the first one I played even to level 10, so I didn’t have much basis for comparison. Now that I’ve got a bounty hunter as well, it’s pretty well written. Eager to see the others.

I’ve played all the classes to level 10 at least and IMHO the Sith Inquisitor has the best early storyline. I’ve played a Jedi Guardian to 30 and that story picks up a bit as you go along, but it’s not as entertaining as some of the others thus far.

Ugh. Latest tweet says we may have another hour to wait (1PM CST). :(

Hahaha, love it.

Oh, MMOs.

Bah… I know get a life but…

Have to wonder about decisions that some companies make…

Not everyone has played the beta, early access etc…

And do get this as a christmas gift and since not everyone is going to play christmas day…

They take the game servers down ONE day after quite a few people are going to access the game and then fail to bring them up even remotely as projected. It doesnt matter what their track record was before, this is going to look like a failed start to many people.

Not really - its looking like the smoothest launch I in my what…8 years of MMO’s have ever been a part off.

Its just that you want to play now and cant thats getting to you.

A start would be to have emotional responses available in addition to words. “I’ll do it” doesn’t really speak to motivation whereas soemthing like “I’ll do it(greed)”, “I’ll do it(Compassion)”, “I’ll do it(revenge)” is a step in the right direction. This isn’t bioware’s first rodeo when it comes to writing dialog branches, you’d think they might try to innovate a bit.

Ultimately, if you’re going to have something that impacts your game, and have it unalterable - you better be sure the player is aware of it. Right now, 1) I don’t know which specific action I take is going to make me go light side/dark side and 2) I don’t know what light side/dark side actually means in terms of gameplay.
