I finally reached lvl 50, and it took 99h! I didn’t play in the beta though, so I didn’t know much when I started. I have to say that the UI and travel were the biggest disappointments, but I liked it anyway.

Regarding Slicing, I once believed that Rich/Bountiful/Abundant was the way to go as well, but apparently the data shows otherwise from a credits per minute perspective. Check it out.

Crafting remains a mystery to me, if I send one of my companions for silk that mission seems to be locked from the other one. The available missions always have at most one abundant choice for me, sometimes none. Does this improve with skillups or does it change every set time period or what?
Taking a mission removes it from the list of missions. I have read that the mission list is refreshed when one of your crew returns.
My guess is most players who will stick with the game long-term are playing more than eight hours a week. That’s a little light in terms of time played for MMO fans having fun with a new game. MMO players tend towards the obsessive.

Unless leveling slows way the hell down after Act 1, either you’re slow or I’m fast, as I’ve less than 3 days and am level 31. I’ve ignored crafting completely aside from Slicing.
I was just in what seemed to be a shared hub with no guards, and (at least) the republic respawn point right in the camp. It ended up with some republic rage and homophobia in /say.
Not a great design to put the respawn in the shared hub…
An unguarded hub also seems a little hardcore for a game like this. At least I’m on Empire, which outnumbers Republic about 3 to 1 it seems, so neutral hubs are basically Empire hubs.

I don’t have a ton of time and I have certainly played waaaay more than I should. A few days off and some nights playing for 4 or 5 hours after getting home from work means I am at level 26.
I find a game I enjoy and it is as if I have to play constantly as the fun is going to run out. It is some kind of weird condition.
I don’t think I have a point. I think I am more of a gaming binger than a gaming alcoholic. I can in no way predict how long I will play at this point. :)

So I’m in and playing and enjoying the game, but I’m fining that finding nice people to group with is a pain in the neck.
Are there any QT3ers playing on Euro times?
Are you on Harbinger? I’ve log on at weird foreign hours in the night and we always seem to have people.

I’m on a Euro server, but I’m thinking of just rerolling on Harbinger. There’s no point if there’s noone on at Euro times (basically Euro evening = West coast workday).
I’d also need to see what the ping is like but EQ was perfectly playable on US servers and I think the internet has improved since then :)

So what’s this I hear about people being banned over going to Ilum to level slicing before they’re level 40 and over using bad words in /tells to people who don’t actually object to it?

I don’t know - what is it that you hear? Why would people go to another planet to level slicing when you can do it anywhere?
And profanity will get you a smack on the wrist in nearly any MMO, depending on harshness - its right there in the EULA

I don’t know. It could be nothing. But

I have a hard time believing that it’s real. But if it is, it’s bullshit.

It’s probably a fake, Account banning emails use form templates, and Bioware would use the US spelling of “familiarize”, rather than “familiarise”, in official communication.
If it’s true, that’s a GM that needs to be fired for being hopelessly stupid. But it’s probably not real. One hopes.

Gotta be fake. I haven’t seen GM/CSR stupidity like that since EverQuest circa 2001/2002.

Come to think of it, this would be a great way to scare people away from competing with those resources…
