Woot! Today’s patch finally fixed the companion bug that’s plagued all 10+ of my characters and prevented me from actually playing the game for these last about 3 weeks. Good times now until my sub runs out.

Yeah, I read a little bit ago about the /getdown thing, and wondered if they were taking steps against it beyond likely changing the way the command works. (If that’s only supposed to be done in designated dance zones, why not restrict the command?)
I had no idea.
Which bug is this?
Initially i thought you meant the conversation icon disappearing bug, but i couldn’t find it on the list (assuming i didn’t miss it).
Every companion on every toon on all three servers I tried, eventually went to this “invalid character” status by level 17 or so.

Hrm. I haven’t run into that so far, but all of my companions have the stupid “I need to talk to you…but I won’t!” bug that makes it impossible to play their character quests, despite having multi-thousand point affections. I finally got to talk to Qyzen about his rancor claw last night in a cantina, but I don’t know if that means he’s fixed or if I just got lucky that he wanted to talk to me in a place where I actually could do so. :/
Did you complete a story arc? Moving to 2 or 3 seems to “unjam” companions sometimes.
Are there enough people at max level to have any sense of the end game yet? Are there things to do or is it just time to level another alt?
I CTD every time I try to launch the game now, after today’s patches. I get to character select, pick a dude, then crash about 20% of the way through the progress bar. Guess I’m not doing those space missions over lunch.
Raids, PvP and heroics. Nothing groundbreaking.
Are you constantly sending your dudes on missions? If they’re away on a crew skill mission you can see them on your ship but you won’t be able to talk to them for the quest.
Yeah, someone’s missing tone here.
There is NO BATTLE DANCING outside of the DANCE ZONE
I have not completed any chapters (aside from the prologue) yet, the companions I have which are bugged are on Nar Shadaa and Corsucant at the moment and Qyzen talked to me after finishing the main class quest arc on Taris. I haven’t been sending them out on missions much either lately – they will give me the “I want to talk to you” thing every once in a while, but then when I try to go to a ship it disappears on the way and they won’t talk to me on board. Qyzen talked to me last night in the cantina on Taris, but I think I just happened to get lucky because he wanted to talk to me when I happened to be going into the cantina anyway.
Judging by vent my guild had a blast raiding an 8-man last night. On the other hand, they were commenting that a lot of the T1 raid gear seemed worse for PVE than their current PVP gear.
I have no idea what that means for longevity though.
In terms of PVP, I don’t think the current 3 small maps are going to cut it for long.

That dancing exploit is hilarious.
I wonder if theres some bugs related to talking with npcs, to get infinite experience, of infinite something. It seems something that has ben tested and secured, but It will be interesting if theres one of that. I suppose I will read about it once is patched.

I am officially flabbergasted. I thought these posts and the screenshot further up were riffing on the slicing exploit controversy but google shows this is real!!
This was a public service announcement.
It wasn’t on the list, so i assumed they didn’t fix this major bug, but I can confirm the conversation bug is NOT fixed.
Conversation icon did not disappear after taking a flight path. This wasn’t certain in the past, but common so maybe they made it better or maybe i got lucky.
Conversation icon stayed up longer. Didn’t disappear when running a bit.
Conversation Icon did disappear after changing areas (ie going to orbital station). It generally came back up after a little bit though.
Conversation icon did disappear and never come back after entering the space ship instance.
My Sith warrior goes back on hold.
The “easy” “solution” to this seems to be to remove the specific location requirement or at the very least let me to talk to these companions in the cantina. Talking to them on the space ship is simply way too buggy to such a degree that it might as well be impossible.
edit: yeah, this is certainly related to the space ship instance. I just left it back to the orbital station and after a little while it comes back. Then i use the elevator to go to my ship’s hanger and it immediately disappears and doesn’t come back. Maybe if i try on a different planet.
edit edit: i tried it on the imperial fleet and even with the conversation icon up (it disappears randomly still, although a bit less than i remember), when i enter my ship my companion doesn’t want to talk.

This “public announcement” is almost sure faked. Not sure about the exploit, It perhaps is real.
I just tried it in game, with a non-boss mob, but not intensively. No positive results. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

It only interrupts casting. Mobs can still hit you with normal attacks. Most mobs use only (or mostly) normal attacks. Find some mob that casts a lot to try it on.
Or don’t. You might get banned for dancing in a non-designated area.

i had hit 5000/10000 affection with vette and never got any conversation waiting ‘let’s go somewhere private’ reminders. when i went aboard my ship, i’d gotten 1 or 2 to get a level 30 companion quest. later after i finished act 1, i got like 5 in a row for 10k exp each.
Everything I’ve read about that disappearing-icon bug suggests that it’s just a false-positive UI issue, and that your companion doesn’t really want to talk to you. Usually once you advance the story to the point where they will be triggered (at the end of an act, for example), everything works fine.
There is another bug affecting companions, separate from that one, where making a dark-side choice can cause the companion quest line to get stuck. One of those (an Imperial quest one) just got fixed. Kira is still broken. It’s possible to get the false-positive UI bug along with an actual stuck companion, but they’re unrelated, as far as I’ve been able to tell.
I have the stuck Kira (and have shelved my Guardian as a result, until they get around to fixing it).

What can be possibly be more awesome than get banned for that?
I mean, I would order to print a t-shit with “I got banned from SWTOR for dancing on a non-designated area”. Ibiza is only 7 hours to the south-east from my city :D
