au contraire…

coco-nuts, bust’a nut, wall nuts(my tank’s name honoring PvZ), republicsuck nuts(republic alt i set up to tell the cowards to go capture points on ilum).

Saw Balls’deep as a legacy name last night.

Le sigh.

Oh come on, that one’s damn funny.

You can actually do that. There’s a per-character setting to either display it as a last name or as a tag similar to a guild tag. So if you had two characters Luke and R2-D2, one could use it as a last name and one could use it as a Legacy tag. They could be displayed as:

Luke Skywalker
The Royal Tatooine Navy

or

R2-D2
The Skywalker Legacy
The Royal Tatooine Navy

(Assuming Droids could actually be player characters.) The setting is on the “Social” Tab listed as “Legacy Display.”

So I turned the sound on for a few minutes to see what all the fuss was about. The blaster and lightsaber sound effects are very impressive but the second time the droid came back from a crafting mission and went on and on about how he failed and I shouldn’t deactivate him, I couldn’t take it, that’s just way too annoying. I’m guessing he yammers all the time since I’m a bit into the skill and have been using him a lot since they fixed companions yesterday.

Can I complain about the “sameness” of the game in general? World of Warcraft was great at what it did (and a victim of its own innovation), but SW:TOR is yet another me-too game. Sure, it’s got some things that are innovative for an MMO, but at its core it’s Warcraft with Jedis.

I agree with you as far as mechanics go, but the story telling is obviously way different. Probably why I’ll stick with it longer than I did WoW.

Is this post for real?

Sadly yes.

I do like the class quests. Unfortunately I have to wade through a slew of pirates, gangs, and outlaws to get to those quests. And everyone needs your damned help. I truly wish that I had named my character Michael, and (assuming I got there) given him the legacy name of Westen. With my trusty sidekick Sam ‘Corso’ Axe and ship floozie Fiona Risha.

Why do you pay for the electricity to run your computer to run this game. You have said you hate it, you will not renew, you took 3 weeks off from your 1 month of included playtime…yet you still go on and on about the game and how much it sucks…and now you tell us that you play WITHOUT SOUND?

IB, please…you are making me laugh out loud at work and I might get in trouble here!

Holy crap, thanks, I didn’t know that existed.

There are some nice customization options buried in them thar menus

Personally, I don’t turn the sound on in games until I’ve played it for a few days to gauge whether it’s enjoyable enough while silent.

Then, if the sound sucks, that’s it. I’m done.

I love this so much. SO MUCH.

Yeah, same. I also plug my ears for the first 20 minutes or so of a movie when I’m at the theater and put a clothespin on my nose when trying food I’ve never had before.

Games have sound? Maybe I should plug in those speakers after all.

To be fair, Skadge’s voice is SO annoying I’d rather send the droid slicing than him.

I’ve actually said I love it numerous times although perhaps not here, sometimes I get forums mixed up. Anyway, I’m loving the game for what it has that rocks and that’s why I’m so distraught by the problems. I want it to be perfect. If I didn’t care, I’d simply stop playing and not bother with this thread at all.

I didn’t take the three weeks off like I planned because I was having so much fun.

To everyone:
I can’t typically play games with sound since my wife is very sick and I need to be able to hear her call for help. If I’m watching a movie right next to her, obviously I’ll know if she needs help and we can have the sound on. Geez you guys are crazy.

You’ve got your forums mixed up. I don’t think you’ve had a single positive thing to say about the game on Qt3. Glad you’re at least somewhat enjoying the game.

As far as wanting it to be perfect, the good news is it’s an MMO, so it will get better. With the resources EA is throwing at it, presumably it will get a lot better. We’ll have to see how quickly that happens, and whether they emphasize what each of us wants (which no doubt is quite different with some preferring PvP, some PvE, some Raiding and Flashpoints).l

All this game ever did was beep at me. Beep! Beep!
