The introduced new mechanics in Cata?
It’s a serious question. I tried it for literally only 4 hours and immediately unsubscribed.
So if you do all 8 storylines to finish on one account/server/whatever, is there a final conclusion? Do we find out the details about the emperor for instance? If I’m just in for a huge cliffhanger, I’m not sure I want to continue. I need closure.

Not sure what you mean by “find out the details about the Emperor” but:
About the JK and the Emperor
The Jedi Knight confronts the Emperor on several occasions, and exactly what the Emperor is doing and what his objectives are is very clearly spelled out.
Sigh. That’s just aggravating. I’m 99% sure that during the revan quest lines that they say the emperor hasn’t been seen in years/decades/something long time. So either the story lines don’t mesh up, or the emperor is only meeting with jedi and the sith don’t even know?! This is going downhill fast.
On a positive note, since I’m trying to be more positive in my posts. Kudos to BW for things like this: When something happens that hasn’t happened in hundreds of years and the npc you are conversing with has an idea to use an item, he doesn’t just happen to have it on him to hand over! Hallelujah! It’s in storage and you need to go get it. Logic does exist sometimes.
BW does get some of the little things right in ways that matter.
My example: Putting on a full helmet changes your voice to ‘stormtrooper’ mode, as if you’re being heard through a speaker.

Just because someone tells you in KOTOR that the Emperor hasn’t been seen in a long time, doesn’t neccesarily mean it is so. Or that it is so now.
Even, just because someone tells you something in SWTOR, doesn’t mean it is so either. Its either just how they percieve things, or they could be lying to you.

Well…
The Emperor
In the Jedi Knight storyline, it’s made pretty clear that the Emperor’s personal agenda is dramatically different than the agenda of the Empire over which he ostensibly presides. The Emperor seeks to engage in a sort of perverse Sith ritual that will result in all life in the galaxy being destroyed and their energies added to his own. His Empire mostly wants to just conquer and subjugate the galaxy, not devour all life in it with ancient Sith sorcery.
How that ties into the Emperor’s appearance in the other storylines, I don’t know. I haven’t played them yet.
Nothing I’ve said contradicts that. I’m not going to say any more about the Emperor, as I don’t want to even hint at spoilerizing anything, which you are risking doing by putting everything out in clear unspoilered text.

This is hardly a “let’s meet for tea” type meeting. I don’t want to give any more away than that, but you have completely mis-characterized what happens. Notice I used the word “confrontation” not “meeting”. This is not a meeting of the Emperor’s choosing.
As Scott F says this does not necessarily contradict the emperor not having met with any of the normal Sith.
Ok, I’m going to continue on the assumption that I won’t be left hanging but I’m going to be beyond furious if this turns into a “flashforward” fiasco.

If you think about it, that can be said to be par for the course for many reclusive despots who rule (or ruled) over closed authoritarian / totalitarian societies here on Earth.
Consider, for a moment, the differing characterizations of Emperor Palpatine in the films.
In Revenge of the Sith, he is a beleaguered war leader that survived a treacherous assassination attempt (which he contrived, though few people know that), voted emperor in a public session of the Senate to thunderous applause. In A New Hope, his military commanders speak of him sweeping away the last remnants of “the old Republic” as if it were a matter of clearing away some troublesome cobwebs. He’s not seen as a reclusive or feared figure at all in either context. Yet in Return of the Jedi, the very notion of a visit from the Emperor causes an Imperial moff to quake in his boots (perhaps allowing an entire planet to get blowed up did that; who knows). But the perception of the Emperor is not consistent in the movies between his own military officers either.
As Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke, many of the things we believe are true, from a certain point of view.

Also there is supposed to be quite some time passed between the end of chapter one and the start of chapter two. Similarly time has passed between the end of chapter two and the start of chapter three.
You can think of them as similar to the movies. The Empire Strikes Back does not immediately follow A New Hope. Various events have happened throughout the galaxy. Or to use the more obvious (but more distasteful) prequel comparison, so much time has passed between Episode I and Episode II that Anakin grows up and changes from being an annoying kid to a whiny adult.

At this point, at least in the Tatooine Navy, AFAIK the only one who has actually managed to finish the story is Kingfisher/MarchHare. All I can say is that my story appears to be drawing to a conclusion. Although as with all movies based on the serial model (Star Wars was explicitly based on the serials of the 1930s) I don’t doubt it will leave an opening for additional storyline.

But that’s not really what i’m talking about. I’ve seen a few instances of that too, but what I’m referring to is more of the ‘social dialog’. I just told a sith lord she’s a retard and the game doesn’t seem to know what to do with that - it totally takes me out of the game and I’m suddenly I’m not acting as a character, but pressing 1,2 and mostly 3.
It deserves some recognition for actually making me feel like RPing my character, and is so close to actually succeeding.
One thing that really struck me with wow(and probably the most overwhelming thing at the time) was the sense of scale. Wherever I was, there was this sense that the gameworld was connected. It could be that Mulgore flowed into the barrens, flowed into ashenvale, flowed into felwood, flowed into winterspring, but it all felt connected. You never saw a loading screen unless you went into an instance or switched continents. I dont get that same sense in SWTOR. Each area feels completely isolated and disconnected from the rest of the game world, and the means of travel between those disparate chunks feels clunky and contrived.

Hmm. Putting on a tin hat that doesn’t go past your ears, leaving your mouth and throat uncovered also does the same.

Naturally there are some neural connectors in the helmet that alter your speech. Duh. :-)

Could be worse; I’m a Jedi Knight and I haven’t seen my hair since I left Tython, since there’s no option to lower my hood.

I’ve never played WOW, so maybe I’m missing something, but I only get a load time when travelling to a different location in space (be it a planet or a space station or what-have-you). There’s no load time when moving around on a planet. This makes sense to me; it’s a convention of the Star Wars universe that you have to get into a starship to go to another planet (no different, I’d guess, than travelling between continents in other games).
I don’t see it as clunky or contrived so much as just part of how travel works in the given universe. You’ve got to get on a ship (in a space station or a spaceport) to go somewhere else. I think it would be more jarring to be able to pull up a menu and travel, with one click, from Coruscant to Tatooine and then on to Hoth with another click. That’s not to say that I’m against quick travel mechanics or the fleet pass mechanic. I use both.
This! I was so excited to finally play Warhammer Online and within the first few hours I was utterly disappointed.

Really? The 5 minute run to your ship, the load screen to get to space, the load screen to go someplace else, the 5 minute run off your ship, the load screen…that doesn’t feel clunky to you?
I don’t disagree that spaceships are necessary, I would just really rather have them, and fly them(even in an abstracted sense, like STO) than pilot loading screens

What game are you playing that it takes you 10+ minutes to get from one planet to another? With my speeder and the 30-minute cooldown on teleport I typically make the transition in little more than a minute. Nothing unusual or clunky about that.
The game is pretty explicit about this, btw. The chapter title in the crawl text when I first load the game now is “Interlude”, and it says something to the effect that the Big Bad from my class’s story has been defeated but new threats to the Republic will emerge.
Also, I successfully completed my first hard mode flashpoint last night (The False Emperor), and it was AWESOME. I don’t want to reveal too many details, but it was very reminiscent of the finale of Return of the Jedi (particularly the last boss fight) and featured a surprise appearance from a character I dare not mention. Difficulty-wise, I’d say it’s on par with a Cataclysm heroic a year ago when they were still challenging. My PUG group wiped several times to a few of the bosses, but I’m sure this will get much easier when groups 1) learn the fights and 2) get better gear. As far as I could tell, the trash mobs don’t get any more difficult on hard mode; you’ll face packs of regular mobs mixed with a few silvers and/or golds, but with intelligent use of CC, they weren’t a challenge at all for us.
