Ok something really annoying just started happening.

Everytime I try to launch the game it crashes! I get through the launcher, screen flashes black twice and then nothing. It’s just gone.

I’ve repaired the launcher, downloaded and installed the client again and arggg. Next step is to nuke it all I guess but then that’s a 20gb install off the web. When I google it all I find is stupid stuff about getting a bad retail copy when that is not the issue because before this it worked for a few weeks.

Before redownloading everything, do you cleared all the config files and the register?
Is easy to imagine that you have somewhre in a ini file " crashandburn=1 ", and reinstalling do nothing, since load the same stuff.

What you can do is to create a new account on your computer, and try to install the game for that account. (or run with it)
Perhaps even try to run the game in “Safe mode” or something like that. So if you find that you can run the game in safe mode, or the new user, you know where is the problem.

If you don’t pvp (one or two games doesn’t count) you really shouldn’t be making difinitive statements. Level 50s are a big problem not 49s. Class balance is ok for group pvp not amazing but ok. If people are concerned about duel balance roll up fotm and be happy. Btw op sorcerer build gets destroyed by operatives which have a real hard time with tanks. Sure there is work to be done but this for sure isn’t vanilla wow or age of Conan.

sorry but, one little talent destroy Operative from sorc talent tree, which any decent pvp sorc would have.

Backlash, Operative backstab sorc with static shield on, bam CC for 3 seconds, I aoe KB, 2 dots, and open up with my can of whoop-ass = dead op.

I pvp quite often since there isn’t much to do at 50. I’m valor rank 46 at moment.

Actually, I had not. And that fixed it! You’re my saviour Teiman.

[QUOTE=
The load times aren’t enough to make me throw my mouse at the screen, but Tatooine is long enough that I can go make a sandwhich in the time it takes to load.[/QUOTE]

The load times can feel very long. You load up your ship, you load the planet, you join a group, you need a instance so you load that… really though the planet loads are where i want to see the improvements. This isn’t my connection or my build either. I am on voice chat with people having about the same long load times i am.

What gets me is you’re running through an airlock and space station…er…pre-load the planet then?

The game is pretty terrible about pre-fetching in general. I play with one of my buddies, and because I have an SSD I load every conversation a few seconds faster…even in instances, where it should know exactly what it needs to load ahead of time.

I just started a Sith Warrior on Harbinger. Has anyone had this happen? I seemed to have underleveled my character. I guess it was because I was bypassing side quests and doing mostly class stuff. So I end up three levels below what I actually should be for the final bosses.

I ended up broke, with my ship unable to go anywhere. I had to grind random MOBs just to get gas money.

Yea, I’ve also noticed this. I hadn’t directly connected it to my SSD, but you’re quite right…

Seeing as how gas money costs under 100 credits in basically every situation i’ve seen so far as a 36, nope.

100 credits is basically nothing even at the start of the game.

Yup, haven’t had this happen or anywhere close. Grinding mobs for money for gas should be a total of one (1) regular foe group, but I’ve never been short of money at all.

Anyhow as you now know, the solo style is:

  1. go to a new planet.

  2. pick up the planet story quest near the spaceport or first hub.

  3. do your class quest first step, usually a visit to something in the first hub, which vectors you to a new area. Pick up all local side quests.

  4. Finish current hub.

  5. Move on to new hub with new stage of class quest and/or planet story quest.

  6. Repeat.

I’ve had to do some minor grinding to get up the next level tier of hub\story quest levels, but nothing severe, like grinding Angmar trash mobs (or Everswim trash mobs, or Moria trash mobs…) in LOTRO, which could take 2 or 3 sessions of heavy grind to get to where you need to be for the next Epic quest or hubs.

Final quest, Act 1: Imperial Agent.

This quest might lead me to quit and unsub this game.

this fight

I have to solo a sith lord as an imperial agent, can’t bring in friends, and the guy can kill me and my companion in about 15 seconds. I get it that I’m supposed to use my interrupts on him, but the whole fight is also bug ridden - I’m constantly running into cancelled actions and attacks due to “cannot see target” even though the target is in plain view. It’s not worth this kind of frustration in the single player part.

I had the same issue. It’s easily dealt with, if you’re willing to abuse mechanics.
buggy Act I Agent conclusion

Bring a DPS companion. Run through the boss to aggro him, run him down the stairs to the vertical computer screens on the…south?..part of the bridge. You may need to keep your companion on passive until he’s well away from the stairs. Whenever the boss begins to cast a spell, duck behind a screen to break LoS. His autoattacks do negligable damage, so as long as you break LoS whenever he casts, you won’t die. Kite him (and go ahead and shoot, of course) while your companion oh-so-slowly kills him. Eventually collect your victory.

And yes, trying to deal with that buggy piece of shit in a legitimate manner was infuriating.

I tried that strategy to no avail. He chucks out a DOT that hits for 286 per tick.

I’m weak… I unsubscribed - and stopped playing for a few days.

I was supposed to start working on my game again, but discovered my backup was not up-to-date (my HD crashed recently) - so I was kinda miffed about that.

Then I was bored.

Then I logged on TOR and had fun…

Damn…

It’s no crime to admit you are having fun. ;) Even with all the bugs I enjoy playing SWTOR.

i had a class quest (yet another one) that involved ‘going to my airlock.’

the stupid thing was i took imperial pass and when i went to my ship, it triggered without elmininating the quest. it then gave me a follow-up quest to go to correllia. however, the previous quest was still there. i hit reset on it and now i have to go through the instance again to kill the foozle even though i presently have the next quest in my quest log. i wonder if it will complete properly if i kill him again. jeez.

Rei - do you mind not posting fucking huge spoilers to the stories here???
