I wouldn’t worry too much about PVP vs PVE servers, as the game is set up to mostly keep the sides away from each other until almost endgame, and even then the only place with an incentive is Ilum, which is PVP on all servers.

Basically on a PVP server you’ll probably kill a couple people on Tatooine, kill a couple people on Hoth, and get into some really messed up ganking and camping situations on Voss. Other than that, you’ll probably only see someone from the other side if they’re really, really lost.

I have a question: I am making a Sith Juggernaut now and planning my character. Do I have to be in different forms to use certain skills? Or can I be in Soresu form and use any skill, like Obliterate for example.

get Powertech over juggernaut if you want to tank in pvp.

I appreciate your opinion, but would prefer the answer the question if you know it ;)

Juggernaut tanks fine. If you want to play a force user make your Juggernaut otherwise later on when they do the inevitable rebalance patch and Powertechs aren’t as awesome (which is clearly not the intended design) you’ll regret that you spent all of that time leveling and gearing up a meathead bounty hunter when you could have been Force choking the chicken.

To answer the actual question, I can’t think of any abilities that only work in Soresu Form, though you will have a few talents that give extra bonuses when you’re in that form so you’ll be most effective then.

when you could have been Force choking the chicken.

force masturbating?

a couple of issues that is going to be hard to overcome jugg vs powertech in pvp.
melee vs range, that is really hard to overcome, having range auto attack is awesome.
power tech can leap to target as well as grapple them(which is basically instant kill with fire or acid trap).
Power tech has Aoe knockback vs single target knockback.

everything else is very comparable between those 2 classes.

I think Guard only works in Soresu.

I am only at level 30, but so far Guard is the only skill that requires Soresu.

The forms are relevant to the Skill Trees - i.e. the Defence Tree has some Soresu-specific skills, and buffs if you’re in Soresu Form, the Vigilance Tree has some Shien-specific skills and buffs if you’re in Shien Form, and the Focus Tree has some Shi-Cho specific skills and buffs if you’re in Shi-Cho form.

But you can mix and match, and the trees are set up so you can avoid the Form-specific skills and buffs if you want to.

e.g., some people go down the Vigilance Tree, and have a bit of Defence tree, but avoid the Shien stuff and do everything in Soresu form.

Other people go down the Focus Tree, and have some Defence Tree, but avoid the Shi-Cho-specific stuff, and do everything in Soresu form.

I’m not sure how much better such hybridization is than utilizing and min-maxing with the Tree’s specific Form, but it’s possible.

You can get higher detail trees/grass for ATI users if you use RadeonPro and set under the ‘Advanced’ tab:

texture filter quality: high
mipmap quality: high
texture lod: -2.5

I’m finding nothing sells on the marketplace, level 20 and even purple stuff and blue reciepes etc just expire even at real cheap prices.

very frustrating when you get decent stuff you don’t need but can’t sell. So far up to 22,000 in credits but still a long way to go to get the speeder

Why are you expecting to sell anything at low level? No one stays in level at 20 for more than a few hours, and default rewards are fine for leveling to 50. With a few minor exceptions like ship upgrades for space missions, there’s hardly any motivation to buy anything until level 49-50.

I went 37 points in Immortal, full tree except for 0/3 Heavy Handed.
2/2 in Improved Sundering and 2/2 Ravager.

Well excuse me for expecting to sell purples and blues at level 20, the mmo’s i’ve played in the past of which are numreous, have always had no issue selling the higher grade stuff for a decent profit to help fund crafting etc etc regardless of the level. Especially plans and crafting stuff. Even blue augments dont shift.

Seems to me they may as well have made it all grey and then we can just shift it onwards to vendors and totally do away with a market place which totally sucks anyways but oh no then millions of players would be oh noes WoW has a market place TOR must as well otherwise the game is crap eh!

Don’t sell crafted stuff at that level. Seems green level mats sell ok and blue as well, purples a little harder. No one wants to spend thousands for a stat upgrade for an hour though.

Yeah but as I say selling at even a few hundred credits they don’t shift which just seems odd that a purple item for level 23 that may last 5 levels for 500 credits doesn’t sell even though at grey it sells for 150 credits.

Seems on my server nothing sells even if blue or purple for next to nothing which I just felt was unusal for any sort of mmo game even at the lower levels. A decent purple piece can last for 5 or more levels.

The annoying thing is I had 4 blues and 3 purple items that I can’t use but are way better than I have but just end up being vendored so as an in game item are pointless and worthless for a large percentage of players.

maybe if the game is going to do the quest reward option only then giving a better chance that the piece is usuable for the person they drop for would help.

Really I am just frustrated that I have this decent purple and blue gear for level 20+ that I cannot use and cannot pass on either making it worthless and pointless if it is not for my class.

I’ve had great success selling things on the market. I’d say 80% of what I put up sells, usually for standard pricing. Try using the Nar Shaddaa market, which is cross-faction? I do think having a less clunky search system might help.

Ah, I am about to hit Nar Shaddaa so will try that, thanks for the hint.

I haven’t really had any problems selling drops on the GTN. At first, due to the interface, I was reluctant to even mess around with it. But after my bank filled up, I just started throwing everything I have up there. I usually price things a couple of hundred credits less than what is suggested and so long as the listed price is higher than what I could have gotten from a vendor, I figure that’s alright.

Besides, I’m having no issues with money at the moment. I was at about 50K when I hit 25 but even after training the riding skill, after a level, I was back up to close to as many credits as before from just questing. Now that I’ve started auctioning stuff, I’m up to over 100K at 31.

That said, I’m starting to level my crafting skills (they’re at roughly 100 each atm) and I could see how running missions along with other training costs could get expensive mighty fast.
