RPS: All the self-important, over-entitled whining of a video game message board, but with ads!

QT3 has ads…

As somebody who has raided a lot, it looks like every other raid to me, too…

WoW boss fights - even just normal instance ones - are a lot more impressive. More effects, more movement, more strategy (in as much as you get that in boss fights).

This looks more like one of the terrible WAR bosses, and that game was slaughtered for its pve. Then again the first boss from the first public quest at level three was more cinematic.

As these games have pretty much the same mechanics, a bog standard tank and spank with very average graphics and nothing to shake it up looks incredibly dated.

I love how the dude was very careful to not use the words “tank” and “healer”.

Juggernaut is absorbing all the damage.

and “the whateveritwas is applying med kits at a distance.”

Thingummy is NUMBING THE PAIN and helping out with a SHIELD

Which is nothing like a Discipline Priest’s Pain Suppression and Power Word: Shield. Honest.

But they look pretty boring.

You say this like it’s a negative thing.

No, some of them look spectacular (but are actually a pain in the arse to play). A lot of them feature a lot of spell effects, character and mob movement, and a complicated set of instructions to follow in order to win the fight. Some are better than others, obviously.

When you’re trying to be something new and interesting, and trying to take customers away from the 12-ton gorilla, then being an unimpressive copy of that gorilla is a bad idea.

At this point why are they still dancing around the fact that they’re a WoW clone? It’s ridiculous, and it makes Bioware look like snake oil salesmen.

Jusr embrace it. Talk about all the things you improved over WoW (if anything).

Juggernaut is absorbing all the damage. Child, please.

I note a number of MMO gamers in this thread saying otherwise. Basically, things always look better if you know what’s going on.

The new and interesting is what Bioware have always focused on: plot and storyline. I fail to recall them ever saying they were going to shake up MMO gameplay.

This is how I feel about hockey!

Having thought about this, I think the place this game is really going to shine is in the leveling progression. Bioware has obviously dumped most of their resources there, so for me, as a casual raider, if the endgame is as good as WoW (or even slightly worse since this is their first MMO and WoW has had years to improve and build) I’ll be happy.

A number? 2, not including you. And a whole heap of people saying it looks terrible.

I fail to recall them ever saying they were going to copy WoW’s mechanics and classes as closely as possible. Plot and storyline are something, sure, but they’re not core gameplay.

I am utterly shocked that the video of an MMO being played has failed to convert people that don’t like MMOs. Shocked.

Are there many people on this thread who have said they don’t like MMOs? I think I’m pretty much the only one who’s outright bored of WoW mechanics, but I’m saying it looks worse than WoW.

cough cough Bioware game cough cough cough

Ppl here will say anything looks terrible.

I fail to recall them ever saying they were going to copy WoW’s mechanics and classes as closely as possible.

I am sorry that you managed to conclude that silence was significant.

Plot and storyline are something, sure, but they’re not core gameplay.

This is because you have not played Mass Effect!

I so wish that I could talk about this game.
