Do all starcraft maps have a ‘ramp’?

Yes, but size varies.

They all have ramps but not all main bases have a ramp as the only choke point. Some mains are actually pretty wide open. I don’t know that there are any maps that are completely flat so they’re all going to have a few ramps somewhere…

I finished my placement matches tonight. I went 3 wins, two losses as Terran, and somehow I wound up in Silver league. What?!? I shall prepare to be slaughtered.

Probably the most exciting match was against someone who was about equal to me in skill. He was playing Protoss and hit my base with void rays just before I was able to send my attack force towards his base. I was totally unprepared for his attack, and I was convinced I would lose … but I managed to sneak a single SCV over to the other side of the map to build a new Command Center, meanwhile I sent my army to hit his base anyway in a last ditch attack. I wound up winning because he wasn’t able to discover my new expansion before I destroyed his last structure. Watching the replay from his perspective as he clicked around the map was amusing: I could almost hear him say “WTF?” Really, I didn’t deserve to win that one.

One Terran player who was obviously better than me mopped the floor with me, then finished the game by saying “You just starting out bro? Not bad. I’ve seen a lot worse.” Thanks.

One of my biggest weaknesses right now is micro. I’ll assemble a force and just kind of fling it at the enemy. If he’s built up a multi-part defense of any kind, I can’t get past it.

How many SCVs do you have repairing bunkers? 3 bunkers at each entrance with a mix of firebats and marines, SCVs to repair the bunkers and a medic or two to heal the SCV seemed to work ok.

19th in Diamond League 2on2. Didn’t really seam that hard, honestly. There were only a couple of opponents that really manhandled my team.

Finally got to make Battlecruisers in an online game. A 1 hour 16 minute game, that is. Nearly every single last resource on the map was gone. Although it was more our ineptness than anything else that’s responsible for the game lasting so long.

The Battlecruisers, though, are a wonder to behold. Such firepower. And I love how their anti-ground attack more than doubles with upgrades.

Don’t know when’s the next time I can see them in action again. Most games don’t last long enough to see the highest end tech, unfortunately.

Haha yeah my roommate plays terran and pretty much every game he either gets Thors or BCs.

TLO has been having alot of success rushing BC’s in the games he’s been playing lately.

Ah I’ve seen all of those. But I’ve seen a lot of replays lately and I can’t for the love of me remember what’s in those. Thanks anyway though. I might watch that one again.

There’s still a whole host of TLO games out there where he rushes BCs or uses them to great effect.

IIRC he uses the 1-1-1 BO and then either rushes a BC or two off one Starport or holds off till he has expanded and throws down 3 Starports producing mass BCs with some Viking support.

I finally got this game - I ain’t wading through 53 pages to see if someone already noted this - they’re playing Skynyrd in the cantina. Aw yeah.

I’m pretty bad, so whenever a game goes 20+ minutes I probably have excess resources at which point I just build 3-4 starports and go BC. There’s no doubt it works, and if you have a big economical advantage it’s a pretty comfortable way to translate it into army strength.

I’ve been really happy lately to see that Blizzard managed to balance back into relevance both BCs and Ultralisks in such a way that they are a reasonable option but not OP in any way.

I can’t really think of any units now in MP that don’t serve some relevant purpose well enough to get used even in high level play. Very cool.
