…dammit.

Shiroko, I got pointed at that replay by a friend of mine today. That was [i]hilarious[i]. Some brilliant and really skillful moves that game. I loved the speedling taking down the buildings while kiting the zealot around, but definitely the best move was trying to cheese the zealot who was set on patrol to peck at him while he was on his way back.

Tee hee.

Just had an epic 42 minute struggle with a gold terran. He walled himself in and just massed marines, vikings and a few thors. I first went with a balanced army of hydras, lings and infestors to back up my air but eventually I realized that with that wall of units and siege set up having a ground force was useless and went into mass muta corruptor and brood lord mode while expanding out to several bases. I did some damage to his base and wiped out his vikings while keeping him contained. Eventually he starved himself out of his two bases and tried a marine ball push on me. Luckly I managed to get out some lings with ultras and took it down while my remaining mutas took out his two expansions, he then quit.

It definitely feels that dealing with a terran who walls in, air is the only way to go as the siege tanks will eat up any ground forces before they get in range.

Also I think mutas could use some love with a balance patch, either give them a little more armor or allow them to move and hit as they are paper thin against marines.

Just played a terran who built 4 Thors from 6:00 to 10:00 then ran his SCVs out of his base and built command centers everywhere. I had immortals and zealots so I took out the Thors with ease, meanwhile he is trash talking me for sucking because my first army ran past his first Thor to go wreck up his base a little because I had reserve immortals in my base for the Thor. Once he is wiped out which took all of 12 minutes, I have to tech up to Void Rays to chase his fucking CCs all over the map. Some people have just way too much friggin spare time on their hands.

If you wiped out his mobile air (vikings) and you had broodlords, isn’t that pretty much gg? They can attack from long range with a little micro and take out an entire base at no risk in my experience.

I’ve also been having a ton of luck against walled in terrans with nydus worms. I spot open ground with my overlords, and then try and build 2 worms in close succession. At my level (top of bronze), people usually don’t do a great job responding, and even if they do they won’t get both worms in most cases. I usually go speedlings and hydras with this plan.

I’ve found worms to be pretty useless at midlevel and above play, with the huge sound they make and the build time its just too easy to spot them and move over to them before all the forces are out. A siege tank or two will kill a worm before it even breaks through, because some how shooting dirt kills a worm!

The most use I find out of them currently is getting island expos up or moving to an undefended expansion, but cracklings do that well enough as is.

I played an unranked 2 v 2 with an ally that built nothing but Queens. Pretty surreal win.

This is actually a surprisingly valid strategy, thanks to transfusion. A few Spine Crawlers do help though. Day9 even did a daily on Mass Queen ZvZ.

Nydus worms are still used by high level Zerg in certain situations. Obviously it’s not something you want to center your strategy around but they can be useful especially against protoss who are not very mobile and take a while to travel from one base to another especially on bigger maps like Kulas Ravine.

Awesome (and short!) ZvT with a surprise conclusion. Don’t read the comments before you download, as they spoil the fun.

The matchmaking system has been working pretty much perfectly for me. I’m really impressed actually. I got some soft opponents early on (started in Gold) and then I could feel it gradually ramp up to the point where I would no longer just auto win by having decent macro. So I’m languishing in mid Platinum with a 50-50 ratio or so and still feel kinda newbish compared to how I played SC1, but the system is definitely working.

In case you want to watch it on Youtube.

Funny game, but that commentator is awful. Makes me appreciate HD and Husky a lot more.

SPOILER

Yeah, the Terran was never in that game. He went all in and got countered HARD after the quick scout let Zerg know what was up. The proxy hatchery was fun but it wasn’t necessary at that point.

I’ve not had the nerve or really the time. I’m convinced that half way through a game my four year old is going to come ask me to play with him.

I’m still enjoying the campaign though, very pleased with the game as a whole.

What’s the problem? That’s a perfect way to boost your winning record.

My 3 year old only wants me to make balloon guys when I play, and he makes me follow them around with the camera. I had a hard time explaining to him that I was switching to Protoss. He doesn’t like any of the toss units like he likes the balloon guys (overlords).

That’s cute. Have you told him that banelings are baby balloons? :)

Ender, that is awesome. You should make this your desktop. Also, show him a Colossus! It’s like the balloon guy grew legs and shoots laser beams!

OMG, that is an awesome picture. I will be making that my desktop pic.

The problem is that it takes awhile for the collosus to come out and he isn’t the most patient kid. If I go a roach heavy build then I have to have tons of overlords popping, so that satisfies his intense interest.

Baby balloons, that is also a good idea. I need to make more banelings and get the speed upgrade so they are rolly polly baby balloon guys.
