Stardock owns Star Control and is planning an "XCOM-like" reboot

It sure does!

I would love to. :)

We’re on pins and needles regarding reviews which should start showing up tomorrow.

Normally, we don’t send out review copies until like a week before because we tend to come in “hot”. With this game, because it’s an RPG, it had to be “done” a lot sooner so review copies went out last month with the main changes being balance, VO, minor tweaks.

This is the first game I’ve worked on that really lives or dies on its writing. It was a deliberate choice to focus everything on story and writing versus our traditional focus on “look at all the knobs you can turn!” and have, for instance, random quest generation or something.

Next up will be the Multiverse feature (letting writers create their own stories and share them):

(also, please don’t share this image anywhere, if marketing knew I posted this here they’d take my hands!!)

Thanks. Just pre-ordered. Looking forward to this, especially as I never played the original. Going in blind!

Really looking forward to trying this out tomorrow!

Congratulations to the Origins dev team on the impending launch!

Very keen for this. No reviews up yet it seems.

Downloading now. I wonder if it will start. :) … evil cackle as splash screen appears…

I have an insider look at the IGN review for you:
review

That got a genuine laugh out of me, thanks :-D

LOL - sometimes they’re decent reads, but I agree the score isn’t typically worth a glance

First reviews have arrived:

Gamespace: https://www.gamespace.com/reviews/star-control-origins-review/ 9/10

Gamewatcher: https://www.gamewatcher.com/reviews/star-control-origins-review/13066 9/10

Windows Central: https://www.windowscentral.com/star-control-origins-pc-review 4.5 out of 5

Thanks for the laugh, @Lantz, I needed that today. :)

I have something strange going on or I’m missing something that should be obvious and I’m a dumbass today.

I left Earth, tried to visit Ceres - it wouldn’t let me dock/land there, and I move on to Triton. I land, I pick up lots of things, I find the “Unidentified Object” and can’t seem to interact with it at all. It has a description of “Undefined” that shows up when I get close to it. Actually, quite a few other things I passed in space were “Undefined” I think.

“Undefined” makes me think I’ve got a glitch. Maybe I’ll try re-installing? Weird…

Just saw those.

I think there will be two types of reviews:

The people who play the game for the quests and the people who play the game to gather resources.

I have friends that are both types. The latter type isn’t likely to enjoy the game very much. It’s akin to breaking into every house in Skyrim and collecting whatever is in the drawers. Yes, you can do it but you might find that a little boring.

Another review:

95/100

New launch trailer too!

Weird. It looks like a missing file or something.

It should just say “E”.

That was a good hint. It didn’t like that I had rebound keys. I used the reset keybinds to default button and now I get “E”. I play using ESDF instead of WASD. The game breaks with my keybinds. I’ll see if I can identify which specific binding breaks it or if it’s “any” rebind of the E key and let you know.

Ah good catch!

The team is on it right now.
