0.9.1a is out!

Ohhhhhhhhh!

As if you’ll stop playing Rebel Galaxy Outlaw to play anything else… ;)

I might. You don’t know!

Also we can officially update the thread title to say “eight years in the making” now.

Will it hit 1.0 this year?

:D

I’m very exited for this change:

… in large part because I suggested it on Twitter after a particularly gut-wrenching loss.

Unlikely.

I need to watch some videos for the game. It has been so long I dont even remember what exactly you are supposed to do.

No

D:

I talked about this before I believe, but at he releases new versions and he gets closer to 1.0, the scope and complexity of the project increases, and it’s making every new update to need more time than the previous one. For example, this is the first time that a minor version (0.9 => 0.91) needed more than five months.

Only a bit less than four years to go!

Shoot stuff?

This game is pretty fascinating.

Zeno’s game development paradox.

  1. Please elaborate.
  2. Will you stream it?

I feel that way, but it suffers badly from the “it’s going to be even better next patch” syndrome. I also find it a little aimless as a beginner… but damn is the combat model enticing.

I wish he would finish it, and put in some victory conditions and actual game driven goals.

That’s my new crusade. I want games to have goals, and I don’t want to have to be the one to create them. Sandbox does not have to mean aimless meandering and fuddling. Nor should I have to supply the goals for a game. I play Civilization to beat the other empires, to launch the spaceship, to win. Enough with the “set your own goals - see if you can produce X foozles per turn” bullshit I’m seeing so much of lately.

This.

Same for me, even in open ended games I want something to direct me as a player at the end, and it gives some kind of purpose and closure to the experience.

This game is a sandbox you guys. There are missions to get and such, but it’s a sandbox where you can even found your own colony and such. It’s amazing.
