My monitor’s native resolution is 1920x1200 (16:10 aspect ratio) and it looks great. Maybe you meant 1920 instead of 1900?

What @Coldsteel said, but also it runs great in a window of whatever size you would want, so you could play in a traditional 1920x1080p window just fine.

Yep, meant 1920x1200! And that’s good to hear. So the purchase process is you hit their website, order it, download it and a key unlocks it?

Also good to know, thanks man.

Yeah, old-school and super easy. Just keep a copy of your email with the key in it (just in case) but otherwise, no DRM or anything.

Cool, grabbed it. Time to get climbing the completely lost ladder. First step, is there a manual? Looked in install directory didn’t see one.

I don’t believe so, but I didn’t really look. The best way to learn is to start a new campaign and do the tutorial - it’s short but puts you in a good position to know how things work and explore from there.

I am a big fan of this guys videos, as well - he’s not the best player maybe, and he’ll admit it several times in his videos, but he knows his stuff and he explains things well. I find him very easy to watch.

You could start with this video, which is what I did and it worked out very well for me:

Thanks man. Look forward to diving in tonight.

Here is what happened to me, so you can maybe see it coming and not fall into the trap I nearly did.

I played the three tutorials in the main menu, combat and fleet stuff, felt overwhelmed and unsure of if I liked controlling my ship or was just bad at it, and nearly didn’t play again. I watched the above video and then realized there was another, lengthy story/tutorial (and a great one, too) when you start a campaign, so I dove in and tried that. I nearly bounced off again after the tutorial let’s you do whatever you want, because I was like “wtf do I do now? and also what are these ships? What are good ships? What are good skills?” and the usual stuff with a new game. Push through (I’m so glad I took the time to try and learn this amazing games mechanics and ins/outs), look up the odd question you may have as it comes up, the answers are out there - the community for this game is huge and helpful. Ask here, too, lots of us can answer many questions you may have, I suspect.

I am in a fix. I stumbled across this gigantic Elite Battlecruiser on my exploration and managed to limp into port despite not having enough crew.

Now I have problems trying to get it online. Mothballing it consumes fuel like crazy. It’s crazy but it looks like I need to sell it! Any ideas? I’m very early in the game with a ragtag bunch of ships and have no colonies going yet.

You need to get enough crew to manage it is all. You’ll probably be fine if you buy more crew? I suspect your resource issues are due to every ship being under crewed. That’s not good.

Yea, the battlecarrier needs 1000 crew!
I’m toying with the idea of scrapping the majority of the fleet. Between that and selling all the non-essentials I should be able to get the battlecarrier up. But it looks very slow and I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

It’s worth it. Even if you end up selling other ships to get enough crew, that sucker will let you tackle some high powered exploration and bounties for a while, it’s a great find - the d-mods aren’t even bad on it, it’s a 14th fleet ship so it’s just inherently amazing, and it will likely end up in your fleet even at the end game. Hold onto that sucker, it’s an amazing find.

Ok thanks! I’m actually quite surprised that we’re able to get such amazing finds so early.

Me too, super jealous. I had one but I had to pay through the nose for it, iirc I paid over 600k for a ship just like that with 3-mods and everything. HUGE find.

Ok I tested out the ship. It’s an absolute beast! Thanks!

Jelly of that find mate.

You don’t need your own colonies to store ships—I think it’s a 5,000-credit fee to establish a depot at a given colony, and then you can keep your ships there.

Big capital ships are awesome, but I don’t typically run more than one or two per fleet. The upkeep, crew, and fuel requirements are prohibitive unless you have a particular objective in mind.

How do you store the ships? I seems that I can’t store them. I can do it with the goods etc. Is there a screen to do that?

Also, a quick question, once I have the capital ship, stuff starts running away… I just cant catch up with the pirates…

Edit: Ok I found the storage button. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, that max burn of 7 is going to really limit your fleet speed, but you can still catch most fleets I’ve found. One trick is to stop and re-start your Sustained Burn ability - this drops all forward momentum and makes it possible to turn very sharply. Give it a try, it’s very handy.

EDIT: Also, stay away from Degraded Engine ships. Well, unless the degradation brings them down to a 7, in which case go nuts since you’re already down in the 7s. :)

I established a colony. But is at a loss on how to grow it.

Should I build it with farm and then a light industry progressing to a heavy industry? Or should I just focus on making it heavy industry or commerce etc?
