I did not mean to start a tribble, just use steam over random web sites. Paypal, What is that. ;)

It’s a ship. Cheap at 12k only.

Is it only the hegemony who care about this trade? Want to know who I need to avoid. For example I’m currently in a Try-Tachyon system, can I pick up as much of these items as I care to spend on and then travel to another system (not hegemony) and sell them w/o being hassled?

Tri-Tachon basically allows ALL goods except Cores.

The rest have some items on their black market list. But I think @tylertoo meant that you should sell even normal goods on the black market to avoid the 30% penalty.

Normally what I do is to sell 1/2 in value in Black Market and 1/2 the value on common market (with the 30% tariffs). This allows me to escape being hit with a black market scan loss. And also gives me relations points for trading.

Oh yeah, definitely make use of black market to avoid tariff. And I’ve been balancing it to not get too on their radar because of it.

Was just also wondering who I needed to avoid when trading in organs and drugs, sounds like it’s just hegemony.

The Sindrian Diktat outlaws the same things as the Hegemony, and the Persean League outlaws drugs and organs while permitting heavy weaponry, I believe.

I think I’m gonna make you guys jealous.

I’ve restarted and is in year 2 of a new start. Just exploring around and salvaged this baby.

Then right after that, salvaged this in another system!

2 Battleships from the Battlefleet 14.

Now, I’ll just need to save up enough to restore them (I think it’s 600k++) and start destroying pirates and build my colonies!

Edit: I use the Intel and fly around collecting exploring and surveying missions in a bunch near each other. They typically lead to interesting systems. Then I follow up on the exploration data that appears in the Intel screen under the exploration tab. You’ll end up with tons of goodies.

Remember to buy some good support ships. This is my typical set up when I go for long exploration runs.

2 Freighters and 2 Tankers with a tender. The Apogee and the Venture class cruisers have the benefit of give the “Surveying Equipment” mod so you don’t need many tenders if you want the survey bonus. And remember a Civillian transport. (This is for getting the extra juicy Battlecruisers you chance upon!)

You can get started with smaller supports and move up as you go along. Just replace the smaller capacities with the much larger ones once you have the “Augmented Drive Field” mods and the cash.

Undamaged engines with the “Augmented Drive Field” and “Militarization” mods are crucial to get the burn up to 9. This will make you zip around even with the supports. Some defence like 3 or 4 Cruisers are necessary to clear up “low danger” beacon areas populated by Remnants.

Tip: I always buy the Augmented Drive Field mod from stations when I see them. It’s really cheap for what it does. Faster travel means less supply burn!

This question won’t be quite as exciting and impressive as the above post, haha.

I took a mission to go to a star sector and scan a derelict, I’m in the system designated and basically wasting supplies cruising around in the system pinging trying to find it.

Clue me in, once you get to the star system where something you’re supposed to find is located what’s the trick to actually finding it?

RE: adding non-Steam games to Steam

Right? How did we go so many years without knowing we could do this???

Au contraire, my friend! It lets me pipe pretty much any PC game into the living room using my Steam Link. That’s a really big deal at Chez Chick!

-Tom

I found a more direct solution to my hide and seek problem, I uncovered some very unfriendly pirates instead of the derelict I was looking, they generously offered to put me out of my misery and I accepted.

I try to have at least 30-40 days remaining before doing these missions.
This is what I typically do.

  1. Head to the nearest stable point, build a sensor (+400 scan range). If there are stuff around there, grab them. Note: that Militarization mod removes the civillian hull sensor penalties. So if you find your sensor range especially poor. Fix it on all your civillian hulls.
  2. Next, systematically head towards points of interest.
They include planets, asteriods fields, stable points, gates etc.
  3. You should be able to cover them in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise way.
  4. I think the game generates the missions at the points of interest. So you should cover everything in under 30 days in my experience using “sustained burn”. (Sustained burn in-system does not use any extra fuel as it does in hyperspace. So it’s a no brainer to use it in-system.")
  5. When all else fails, I will follow the rings of the system (the giant asteriod rings) that sometime hide derelicts. But this is very rare.

Thanks for the info, next time the mission type comes up I’ll have a better idea how to approach it.

Edit: took a new mission after getting myself dead the last time, just a routine planet scan but it was way out there. Anyway, this time it was relatively easy to find the planet and scan it and get paid. What was more interesting is I found debris that had the following stuff in it:

3 gamma cores (illegal?)
claw wing blueprint
harbinger phase destroyer blueprint
high tech blueprint package
bunch of modspecs
corrupted nanoforge

My question is: what do I do with all this stuff? Sell it and make money or hang on to it for later use? What’s best approach early on?

Edit 2: could just be me but this gives me a very space version of rimworld vibe

The 3 Gamma Cores should be turned in to Tri-Tachyon immediately (via comms -> station master) for a neat 90K.

The modspecs and blueprints learn them by right clicking on them.

Save the nanoforge to boost your colonies when you start them.

Edit: I dont know what is the deal with this map seed. I just got another Legion14, Battlecarrier… and this time without any d-mods… So I have 3x Legion14 battleships now!

I’ll just point out that you can add stuff besides games to Steam. I added Kodi and used my Steamlink to stream movies from my PC.

There’s generally a pattern to where stuff like that is.

  1. A lot of good things are hidden very close to the sun where it’s hard to spot initially. Research stations can often be found there along with probes, derelict ships, supply caches, etc. Move close and run a scan to see.

  2. The big asteroid belt (if the system has one) often contains items of interest.

  3. Ringed worlds or ones with asteroid debris around them are worth checking.

  4. Often, derelict ships and other items are located around or near system warp points, or old, broken warp gates.

Those are the areas I’d check first.

Hey, can you post that seed here? I’d love to check that map out next game.

Sorry if this has been asked before:

  • If a character trait says (piloted ship) - does that perk only apply when manually controlling the piloted ship, or also work on the ‘piloted ship’ when I turn on autopilot?

This game has come a long way since the last time I played (probably 0.8?)? Look forward to sinking my teeth into it, again…

In addition to @cicobuff’s answer, I’m pretty sure that the mission text language is updated to be more specific once you arrive in the star system. So if the original language directs you to a star system, you’ll see better clues in the mission dialogue box when you get there, usually telling you what type of planet you should search near.

It also works with autopilot on.

That’s weird. I just saw an exploration mission published for a rocky planet and it needed 400 crew.

The seed is MN-3372031989118344408.

I read in the forums that the difficulty and mods may affect the seed generation.
I’m playing in “Easy” with the 3 mods enabled.

  1. SkilledUp 1.1
  2. SpeedUp 0.6.0
  3. Starship Legends 1.2.2
