Yeah, my fleet can only really take on automated drone defenses, and only then If they don’t have too many berserkers. It’s fast, though, and can carry enough fuel and supplies to make it to the edge of the galaxy.
I’m having a lot of fun exploring, but I think it’s time to look into combat and then colonizing so I can put some of these cores and forges to work. Better start re-reading some of the earlier posts in this thread for advice.
Been having a blast with this the past day. I have owned it for 3 years but never really got into it. The new “explorer fleet start” is perfect for me. Short version, with that start you can ignore manual starship control with the keyboard stuff entirely. So it becomes a point and click game rather than a wasd+qe+mouse click or whatever the hell the default controls are.
Anyways love it I am an exploring and salvaging fool :)
Yeah this is where the game tugs at me as well, and it’s GREAT for this.
Yeah its a lot of fun! When I figured out the game was a fleet game not a ship game then it all kind of clicked. Also its nice when a game really rewards exploration. I got Cr40K for one planet today. A big deal for my n00b level.

Grr, every time this thread gets bumped I keep hoping for a game update. I’ve played this game to death, but an update would make me hop right back in.
Tell me about it, any time I see the thread get active I get excited to have an excuse to play again. But hey, new info will just have to do I suppose.

I still check the forums every few weeks to see if there has been any developments.
There have been a lot of great mods added over the years if any of you haven’t checked them out.
This really is gonna be a pinnacle of the genre once it hits 1.0.
I really look forward to digging into this once it hits 1.0. (I did spend a dozen or so hours around .8x, loved it, but wanted to wait for the full experience before burnout.)
This is already a very good game, happy to see an update is in the works. I don’t really know how long this guy tends to put out his notes before he releases the patch, though.
