Well you can’t really lose any game, you just reload, and it did save me from saving before every jump sequence. It wasn’t perfect though, but I think it suited the depth of game, having to save and reload a lot would have been tedious for a game where missing a key could easily result in “death”.
It was indeed one long QTE and Rock8man is being incredibly generous with his calling it a “classic”. To me it’s one you pick up during a sale because the gameplay is so-so, the story and central relationship not handled quite as well as it could have been (because of the hub system, though not really it’s just bad design), but it’s solid enough and the collection mechanic was quite fun (and really that’s half the game right there) and the story comes to a very satisfying conclusion.
Naw, if you think about it, PoP2008 had a harsher penalty than the time reversal Prince of Persia games. In the time reversal games, if you didn’t make a jump and plummeted to your death, all you had to do was to reverse time a little bit and keep going from right before where you made your mistake. But in PoP2008 you had to go all the way back to the last time you were on a secure ledge, and that could be way back there sometimes. By contrast, the penalty is a lot less harsh in Sands of Time/Warrior Within/Two Thrones/Forgotten Sands.
And I didn’t know the new one (Forgotten Sands) had the new always-on-DRM scheme. By contrast, PoP2008 on the PC had no DRM at all.
Actually the only way to lose is to finish the game and play the end credits.
I’ve played enough of Terraria to know that I can’t play Terraria. If only this game had been around 20 years ago when I could blow a hundred hours doing nothing.

You say PoP 2008 has a better story than Sands of Time? I find that very hard to believe. Sands of Time wove the idea of telling a story into the game itself and had the most bittersweet ending possible.

It had a great ending to the story, the story as a whole though…
I visited the steam forums, and had to build a boat to escape, the amount of tears over the Terraria price error has flooded the internet tubes over there.
Yeah, I really couldn’t find much of a game in there anywhere. It was basically a combination of two of my most hated modern game contrivances: QTEs and ledge-crawling. The interplay between the lead characters was endearing, but I can watch a movie for that.
Ok, so due to the insanity of EA’s Steam pricing, Dead Space 2 (discounted) is $34.99 but the Dead Space Pack is $19.99. I may finally bite on that one…
My resolve to not buy anything else in the Steam sale is under serious attack. NWN2 Platinum for $6.79… there comes a point when you have to say “fuck it”.
It makes me look at games like SupCom2 which I’d normally not be that interested in, and think well, for $3.74 I can’t really go wrong. Can I?
It must suck to have bought DNF at launch only to see it 50% off now. It needs to get to 99% off before I’d check it out though.
I snagged the complete Prince of Persia pack mainly to have them on hand. I’m in the camp that firmly feels PoP 2008 was unfairly maligned. I wouldn’t quite call it a great story as a whole (Sands of Time still has my heart there), but for damn sure the ending was spectacularly ballsy.
Plus, I kept vaguely meaning to give Warrior Within a fairer shake, and to complete Two Thrones, both of which I no longer had copies on hand for. Also to get around to Forgotten Sands at all, which I skipped over when it came out due to Prince fatigue.
SupCom2 is great if you like skirmishing against the AI. Especially if you co-op with a buddy.
Are you suggesting Lara Croft isn’t a very good dancer?

My steam haul:
- Portal 2
- Terraria
- CoH Tales of Valor (Thanks Scharmers for the tip on adding my retail keys to Steam Tales).
- Spectromancer
- Paradox Fantasy Pack
I tried to be restrained but I still end up with lots of stuff.

2 right feet, 2 left feet. What’s the problem?
Oh, if you’re going to be picky about it and say that each one needs a right and left foot, sure.
Hahahaha good lord what a bunch of sad sacks. Even before the price change hit people were trying to scrounge up people to get the 4 pack at $7.50 and another dude was asking for it to be gifted to him because he couldn’t even afford it at $2.50. Now it’s a bunch of posts about not buying it “on principle!”
Meanwhile, I paid the full $10 for Terraria and haven’t regretted it for a moment.

I couldn’t help but laugh. Not only was everyone crying in the Terraria forum, but the main steam forum too.
I’m curious if they’re going to be sticking to tradition and just doing the highlights tomorrow.
