Steam taking forever to launch games

It is taking longer and longer for Steam to launch my games from the Desktop (or in-app too I guess). I am having to wait several minutes from when I click on a Desktop icon to when a game starts (Everspace). What gives? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Are you launching them off a SSD or HD ?

Are you running regular Steam or beta Steam?

What do your system resources look like before launching the game?

I guess this is also a good time to remind everyone to run Steam Cleaner, I ran it a few days ago and free’d up over a gigabyte of ssd space!

Is it happening to other apps? Just In case it’s a failing harddisk.

Steam gets “stuck” when i move my laptop to a new place or close the laptop lid without shutting off Steam.

Try closing Steam and restarting whenever that happens.

Sometimes navigating to the store page also refreshes the connection.

It does not happen with other applications, and there’s not a lot of activity to cause my CPU or RAM to max out. I used Codeusa/SteamCleaner and launching the game did seem to go faster.

Were you able to solve this problem?

@YakAttack is still waiting for a game to launch.

:D

Steam Cleaner fixed the problem I think. (I haven’t played many games in the last few weeks.)

Yeah I try to remember to run steamcleaner every sale.
