So I’ve generally ignored the Steam trading cards, since I have no interest in getting badges to my profile (or whatever it is these things do) and selling a card at 0.1 EUR is not worth any amount of clicking around. But it turns out I’m now the owner of a foil Yen from Witcher 3, which is worth^H^H^H^H^H selling for 2.5 EUR. But turns out it’s not actually possible to sell any of this digital junk without enabling SteamGuard, and enabling that is really not worth my time. Not sure whether I should be annoyed by missing out on the free money, or happy that I’ve managed to stay away from this very strange business.

You really should enable SteamGuard.
Or at least its lowest rung (asks once per computer).

I didn’t know you couldn’t have SteamGuard enabled. Why wouldn’t you want SteamGuard?

I think there’s tools you can use to put all of your cards on the market at once, rather than having to click them all manually. (I once did that – mega pain)

Last time I went to sell my cards I think there were a bunch that would go for 15-20 cents. Practically every card I have now (200+) goes for 4 to 8 cents. Any tips for trying to get the most money out of my trading cards? Any time of year when it’s best to sell?

Best time to sell is during a sale where making card sets gets you extra things. That’s not the case this sale.

SteamGuard keeps occasionally asking for reauthentication of machines / browsers that have already been authenticated once, which is a pain even if it happens only every couple of weeks. And I don’t see what threat it’s actually guarding against, since credit card purchases are protected by an extra layer of authentication, games can’t be transferred away from my library, and I don’t care about the virtual trinkets.

But a bulk selling tool is an interesting option, thanks.

While you may not care about the virtual trinkets, you presumably care about your virtual games which you can lose complete access to if they change your email? Or they use your account as a mule in transference of stolen virtual trinkets, you get your account shut down by Valve?

And your credit card is just protected by your password…which they obviously already have if they’re in your account.

Has anyone gotten any useful coupons from crafting badges? Last time I looked most cards sold for so cheap that it’s hardly worth selling them.

Sorry to Necro this thread but who actually buys trading cards here? I sell anything I get as I find them pointless, I’m just wondering if any of you collect them and if so, why?
