The Clauswitz engine was first released with EU3 in 2007, CK1 was on a different engine entirely. That being said, I doubt they re-used much of the game code either, which is what you’re referring to, Nesrie.
In terms of Stellaris, the issues seem to be around the game logic. Stats not being applied, AI going hayware. Most of the bugs don’t seem to have much to do with the engine… I’ve yet to see a crash, major graphics bugs, the interface works as designed, etc.
I think you misunderstood my point. Strategy games have always needed good AI because they followed the board game model, where you played against AI peers. Some games are now getting around that, by providing challenges other than AI peers.
Warlocks is an attempt at that. The opponent AI is appalling, but the game works reasonably well by making wandering monsters the primary problem to solve.
I expect to see much more effective uses of non-peer AI to provide challenges, particularly in games like Stellaris where the situation is far too complex for an effective AI.
Speaking of Warlock has anyone tried the Renaissance mod?
I have heard a lot of great things about that, including the AI improvements.

If that’s your point, I agree. I remember threats outside the AI. Age of Wonders can do that too. The wondering monsters, persay, and the events, especially with the expansion that addresses big events, can make those a much bigger threat than your AI or even your player opponents sometimes.
Game is shit. It’s the kind of game that if you paid for it, you’d be pissed. Unless you were in the mindset of “they’ll fix it somehow”.
I saw page up and page down of people praising it and I kept looking. There’s no game here. Sorry Paradox. IF I presented THIS,
I’d be fired.
Are you ACTUALLY proud of this or what you achieved in a short time frame? You really need to call in some actual people with human characteristics to tell you what is wrong with your “game”.
Uh-oh! Someone’s cornflakes smell of ammonia.

There’s no numerical score, so I’m not sure what he’s trying to convey.

Pretty sure he’s happy he ‘tried it out first’.

I think he just gave stellaris a 6/10, whoa.

No, mousing over a planet tells you what kind it is and the habitability. The only reason you would click on it is to see what resources are available and how many workable “cells” there are.
I’m just pretending it’s an early access game, and I’m playing the beta version. :)

And as of the upcoming patch, the tooltip will also contain the planet size.

I didn’t even catch that. What a douche.

Maybe he got it as a birthday present like I did, so instead of being pissed we’re just left with sad trombone music.
That’s definitely the best attitude to have.

Yeah… I think I remember a time when people who bragged about stealing their games weren’t welcome here. Mebbe it’s “good old days” false nostalgia, though.
