I assume this is what it’s like in Oregon right now:

Rural Oregon only. Us big city Oregonians still don’t get to pump our own gas.

Nor do I want to. I don’t know why this stupid idea keeps coming up. It’s a waste of everyone’s time to keep asking about this. It’s been voted down, multiple times already. Ask Christie how well he got NJ to change.

Why don’t you want to pump your own gas?

This doesn’t usually make it to the ballot, but the question has been asked over and over and over again… it’s not going to happen. Let’s waste resources on something else. OR and NJ are fine with this. We have bigger fish to fry than people in other states trying to push this issue.

Seriously though, why don’t you want to pump your own gas?

Why do you want me to? What does it matter to you?

I mean I’m all for senseless regulations from big brother governments and all, but am I correct in understanding that Oregonians literally can’t pump their own gas even if they want to? That seems a little. . . odd.

But I may be misreading it and have too many tabs open so screw informing myself via Google :)

I think it’s more a question of why do you think you shouldn’t be able to?

Nope, you’ve got it right. Self-service is illegal.

Wow, I didn’t even know that was a thing. Is Oregon the only state that doesn’t allow people to pump their own gas?

New Jersey is another one, but that goes back to the mob and unions by most accounts.

See kids? Assuming always works out.

No New Jersey does it too.

I have no reason to require a change. I go to WA pump gas and CA and pump gas, they’re no better off, and they’re not cheaper either. The only thing this does for us is really employ a bunch of people at gas stations at low wages, and I see no problem with that.

But hey chuck it up, am sure i will get zero understanding from people in the 48 other states.

So, local news affiliate has a story about a African American couple having oral sex in a public restaurant in TX. One of the comments was, “That might be condoned in Africa, but not here in America.” To which I replied, “Because Hightower and Fisher are common African names, right?” His response, “How would I know.”

I f’n hate SW Ohio.

As someone who moved from outside of Oregon, I thought the gas thing was going to be the hardest thing to adjust to. In my experience, though, it’s really nice. It took like 2 trips to the pump before I got over it. And only once in a blue moon is it inconvienient to wait for an attendant to free up.

In some alternate universe, there are a bunch of people complaining about the new law that allows rural folks in a state to wipe their own asses. I had no idea Oregon folks were so crazy about having someone pump their gas, just figured it was an annoying law that everyone put up with for some reason.

You guys want to fix one of our laws, how about allowing us to get hard liquor in grocery stores so we can stop paying state controlled pricing and get ginormous bottles of booze at Costco like everyone else. There’s something worth looking at.

Wow, took exactly 3 comments on the Fox News article for it to get racist. Jesus fuck, people are real shitheads:

What a lovely couple.
They should fetch quite a sum on the auction block.
HAHAHA just kidding.
I would give you a plug nickel for the both of them.

New Jerseyians are being deprived of one of the fundamental American rights! This is an outrage!

Folks often criticize CA as a “crazy” state but at least we can buy lots of booze and pump our own gas.

(I have to say, I find that gas pumping thing weird.)
