I finally finished this. Thanks for the freebie EGS, but I would have happliy pay for it. I can’t wait for Below Zero to get out of Early Access. There are some technical issues, like clipping issues when piloting the Prawn in alien structures, especially in the final base. I have to use grappling hook to get unstuck a lot of times.. It also got laggy when I build my base in the shallows.
That Sea Crown seed is finally the the straw that broke the camel’s back and made me use the Subnautica wiki. I’ve catalogued a lot of plants and fauna but that is just too obscure. On the plus side I think I have searched most wrecks and got most of the blueprints as a result of intense searching. And I know my way around even without a map, just lots of waypoint beacons. It was fun while it last, but by the end I just want to get off that effing rock. It got comfortable mid game, when there is no danger of dying of hunger or thirst and I can go pretty much everywhere, but then the story push you to find the cure and that took away the comfort level.
I just did not like the Cyclops. It is supposed to be a mobile base but it is hard to regenerate energy for it. I have it sitting in my base most of the time because of high energy consumption. It would have been better to have solar panel in addition to thermal recharge so I can take it to more places without worrying about power. Prawn is so much better as an exploration vehicle, and so energy efficient right off the bat. It took a while before I found the thermal recharge mod for Cyclops, and by that time the Prawn is even more mobile and with thermal recharge as well, with a drill to boot.
I ended up building a FOB rather than driving the Cyclops, once I’ve picked a spot with source of energy. It was in the tunnel straight down from the surface to lava core, bypassing the acid river.
