I sat down last night dedicated to actually get past the first few turns without quitting. Didnt happen with this recent build.

The “Game” is still not playable without crashes/blackscreens every 2 mins…and thats if you can stomach past the slothful ui…or for that matter can get the game to load consistently. I hear there is still no AI, but leaving out AI till later is normal for this company.

What is it Ros…going on 3 months and not even close to a stable build let alone release quality. When do we get your apology and contrition?

I can play the game for hours now without a single crash, but features and stuff isn’t yet where I want to do so more often.

I however do enjoy this thread as it keeps me up to date on a game I want to play, if you don’t like the game, then its time for you to NEVER post in this thread again ever, its already been made painfully clear over the last 50 + pages its shortcomings.

advertisement perhaps isnt the right word…hes necro’d this thread to promote a patch that didnt make any significant changes to the playability of the product. He isnt informing us to share his opinion on the patch so if not advertising or promoting I dont know what to call it. Just like his hype pre-release he wants people to buy and play the game regardless of the fact he knew then and knows now the product is no good and prob wont be for a while aka 4-6 month or more.

I’m sure people do appreciate the patch notes so I wouldn’t ask him to not post them…I would hope he’d be honest and point out the game is still broken regardless of these notes so people dont misinterpret them for progress. The guy profits from Sots success so I suppose thats not going to happen…which leaves it up to responsible gamers like me dropping in and reminding fellow gamers to beware.

Janster when you play without “a single crash” are you claiming that the game starts every time with no problem ?

The game starts every time for me without issues. Also I didn’t have a crash during the 15 or so hours I put into the previous patch.

However, this is not to say that the game is in great condition. Lots of game systems are not in, or not in completely. The UI is not well designed and gives incorrect info in some cases. The AI is there, and can attack and build up an empire, but often seems to get itself into a debt spiral. Sometimes the combat is smooth, but sometimes it devolves into a slideshow for reasons that don’t seem to have much to do with the amount of stuff flying around (some people claim turning off sound avoids this). Ship controls seem fairly inconsistent in how they respond. Point defence doesn’t seem to be working very well.

Evrett, why don’t you just move on? There’s far more important things in the world to wage a crusade on. A video game just isn’t worth that amount of bitterness or energy.

I appreciate the “thread necros” as it lets me know how patch progress is going. I’ve fiddled around with the game myself and it has been more stable than when I first played it. Not sure if I’m ready to start a full campaign yet, but I’m grateful to get these updates without having to go on the official forums.

Can you post a frapps of your startup? I’d love to see it start without crashing or hanging. I’m of the belief that while I’m sure there are some people out there who have mamanged to play for -an hour-, regardless of how frustrating that would be giving the ui issues, many of these" it works fine posters" are quasi-advertisers paid to go out as say nice things about the game on the interweb to get scores/sales up.

It isnt “respectful” to lie and mislead to your fellow gamer. Rosch fed this community and others misinformation and failed to warn fellow gamers when release time came about. I was just thinking how just it would be for Anonymous or whatever to hack his personal bank account and give back 5 bucks to everyone who wasnt warned about the condition of Sots II at release. There just isnt enough accountability in this world sadly.

Seriously - whats the nexxt game you people are looking forward to? Would any of you really want Rosch ANYWHERE near that game given how SOTS II turned out?

You know people have already posted lots of videos of combat (complete with crappy/missing sound). I’m not going to go to the trouble of posting a video of the game starting. I don’t even want to play until it is more complete.

I think there are still crash bugs, depending on what you do and what the AI does, but the idea that most people can’t even launch the game is pretty out there.

I only wish I was getting paid for this conversation.

I can launch the game. I’d say significant more than half the time I have to exit out and restart due to crash/hanging and half the time it will make it to the menu (which regardless takes waaay too long), which then may or may not cause a graphics blackout at that point.

You said the “Game starts every time for me without issues”. I wanna see proof. Or maybe you misspoke ?
