Tabletop RPGs in 2022

Yep. Their other stuff so far is similar garbage.

Meanwhile, the latest episode of Critical Role has hit the free YT channel and fans are losing it due to the way things shook out in the campaign.

Two character deaths and maybe a third fatality on the way.

Whereas us old-school D&D players are like, “So?”

Watching a 4-5 hours show every week for the better part of the year, with characters portrayed by professional actors with real personalities and voices leads to somewhat different attatchements, than from my old D&D campaigns at least.
More power to you if you and your group managed to get the same amount of personality into your characters - we certainly didn’t.

This is more akin to death of a beloved character in a show (Kate in NCIS, Sean Bean in Game of Thrones and so on).

When you present your players with a choice that you know has dire conseqences down the line, and they still make it, it is tough.

Situation is, save the miners they were paid to look for, or help the town rescue their goblin kidnapped relatives.

They chose to do the job they were paid to do first. Of which the amount of time that passes will determine what happens to those hostages.

This will be the first harsh lesson.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much use for the thread, but I had to look if the news was on the forum and post a “holy fuck”. Usually not a fan of eternal IP rights, but may it work for good.

Avatar Legends now has a “Nexus” suite of online tools.

If you kickstarted for this, you should have a code to redeem to get all the digital goodies in the toolset.

Sigh. I hate having so many logins for even just digital tools for TTRPGs.

I picked up the Star Trek Adventures Utopia Planitia supplement and it’s a thing of beauty. All the complaints I had with the main book are not repeated here.

  1. The layout and colors are friendlier to reading and Modiphius did away with much of the faux-LCARS elements that cluttered up the core rulebook.
  2. The book begins with a terrific history of Starfleet written in a normal manner instead of being a random collection of logs and journal entries that leave the reader to figure out what happened. This first section is what the core rulebook should’ve contained.
  3. You want Star Trek ship porn? This has tons!

Interestingly, the book includes ship designs that originally came from Star Trek Online but are now canon. For example, it has the Odyssey class which includes the Enterprise NCC-1701-F that appeared in the Picard season 3 trailer.

Thanks to @BiggerBoat, and congrats on a successful Kickstarter - delivered today in Australia! :D

Nice, probably have to wait a bit in Germany according to the latest update. Can’t wait.

Oh man, I love that ship. I need to check this out.

Cyber Streets is out. It sounds like it might be something others here would enjoy:

I purchased it and it’s nicely laid out, the setting is interesting and the rules seem light and intuitive (from a quick skim). Also, I love investigative TTRPGs.

Yay! Thanks so much for backing.
Aetherworks are my favorite people. They killed it at fulfillment for folks in Oceania.

If anyone would like Wicked Ones for free, today is the day.

“WICKED ONES is a Forged in the Dark tabletop RPG about a group of fantasy monsters building a dungeon, launching raids on the surface to gather a hoard, and pursuing your nefarious master plan. Along the way, there’s pillaging, rituals, concoctions, contraptions, discoveries deep in the ground, dungeon rooms, traps, creatures, minions, and so much more!”

Free League has announced CY_BORG Kickstarter coming November 15th.

Cyperpunk RPG based on MÖRK BORG rules.

That’s weird I already kick-started it and it’s sitting in my shelf.

Same 🙂 Although, I barely understand it!

Not a Kickstarter. It’s the post Kickstarter release date:

Free League and Stockholm Kartell today announced that the MÖRK BORG cyberpunk spinoff game CY_BORG is set to release November 15. The pre-order is now live and gives access to the PDF before release day.

Pre-order link giving you access to the PDF ahead of the official release date: https://freeleaguepublishing.com/en/store/?collection_id=166791348361&mc_cid=b1724400a7&mc_eid=c22f2f4108

Thanks for pointing this out – I grabbed it. It even has a solo mode.

(Although it says this free through Halloween, not just today).

FWIW, it’s always free in a less fancy edition. I assume this offer is the normally-paid edition.

Guys are there any places I could buy scaled maps for the mines of Phandelver for play with miniatures? The starter maps for D&D 5th edition.
