Tacoma - Fullbright Games in spaaaaaace

http://www.tacoma-game.com/

From the creators of Gone Home. Coming in 2016.

Hey cool, I was just down there over the weekend, guess I’m some kind of astronaut. I hope the main character turns out to be the player character from Gone Home all grown up.

Cool maybe you get to investigate all of the cool Tacoma places like Pacific Ave S. (the “Waterfront”), Hilltop, and Nalley Valley. Then you can cruise over to the Emerald Queen Casino to see the Tubes and Cheap Trick.

So I take it that this game smells like the real Tacoma? The Tacoma Aroma!

No, this about the Toyota truck.

My favorite Hilltop story is when those Army Rangers from Ford Lewis were having a barbecue and some gangbangers got involved and things blew up, and the Rangers and gangbangers engaged in a 10-minute firefight with semiautomatic weapons, and yet NO ONE DIED. Army Rangers, my ass!

So I notice that we can also expect the similarly themed “Adr1ft” (no, didn’t mistype that, it’s a one) to come out in September and, in the interest of thread economy, thought I’d just stick it in here. More bang for the buck! Work less, make more! Anyway, I am actually quite interested in both games, so I can let loose the little Sandra Bullock in my soul and play the astronaut in peril game. Looks like Tacoma is still a 2016 release, so maybe Adr1ft will tide us over in the meantime?

Adr1ft looks very different. It’s a straight-up survival action game set in a crumbling space structure. Oxygen is scarce and you must constantly find more. It’s Gravity in first-person.

Tacoma seems to be more like Gone Home in that the game is narrative heavy and you’re trying to uncover the mystery of what happened before you got to the space station. There’s no combat or threat.

Despite that, I would assume that (like myself) anyone interested in the one game is interested in the other. But maybe not.

Delayed to spring 2017.

We’ve made some decisions about where the game was at and how much time and attention we believe it deserves, and have decided to give it the extra time it needs. As you can tell from this decision being made a full year before we plan to launch, this isn’t a last minute “we just need a little more time!” thing, but more of a “we need to be responsible about giving the game more space to live up to its potential” kind of thing.

Release day, everybody! I’ve pretty much decided I’m buying this sight unseen for Xbox, reviews look good and this is right up my alley. Fingers crossed!

Oh, is it really? I never even saw any ads on Steam? Is it just for Xbox?

I was going to say, pretty sure it’s simultaneous release on PC. Thanks for the link.

Crazy. That’s literally the first time i ever saw information about it on Steam. I haven’t seen hide nor hair of it on PSN neither.

I hope this doesn’t bomb, or isn’t a bomb (either or).

Seems like folks are generally positive on it, getting solid reviews.

I have seen consistent reporting that, like Gone Home, this is a fairly short experience. Several hours or so to beat. So if you’re the sort of person who finds that a turnoff, be aware.

I find it a turn on. (oo-er)

I have no problems with a good short game myself but this attitude that equates a game’s “value” with the duration of time to beat it still seems to hang around. There will be gripes, I’ll guarantee. Though maybe not here.

So, basically just a rush-hour drive from Nisqually to Fife? #sad
