If the economy keeps moving forward, and people see extra money in their checks (not a raise though), and their 2018 taxes aren’t somehow a shock, the GOP will benefit from this.

You are an accountant if I remember right, I think it will be interesting to see if these people getting larger checks don’t find themselves owing more money, or getting less back, come next years taxes. That would create a weird not connected to reality backlash.
Yeah, I don’t actively do tax accounting but I’m still pretty familiar with it. It really just depends on each person’s situation. Some will see more $ right now but owe it back next April while some won’t. By then it’ll be too late, of course. If things go the GOP’s way, they’ll have kept control of the House & Senate and can work on the next bullshit plan to stay in power.
Even if the majority of GOP voters don’t end up paying a decent portion of it back come tax time, the price everyone will pay due to lack of funds for education, infrastructure, healthcare, etc is going to hurt this country for years to come. But at least the ultra wealthy got their huge tax cut so they’ll stay happy.
We knew that would happen. The GOP front-loaded what mid-income tax cuts there were and made those what expire to keep the deficit increase to ‘only’ $1.5 trillion. They calculated how much would be enough of a distraction to keep voters from noticing how much richer the already-rich and corporations are getting.

My take home pay went down .02 cents. I expect to be screwed on taxes since I don’t work 50 hours a week AND run my own business like all the GOP examples says I should be doing.
