Teen arrested for inciting hatred on Facebook

Thank you for proving my point about ignorance and anti-Quebec sentiment.

And another arrest has been made, this time a Neo-Nazi :

Quebec provincial police have arrested a second person this week for allegedly spreading hate on the Internet.

A 28-year-old man faces charges of broadcasting hate propaganda, through Youtube.

Police allege the man used the popular video-sharing site, as well as networking sites Twitter and Facebook, to spread hateful commentary on different ethnic groups and visible minorities.

Provincial police Sgt. Claude Ross says a citizen’s complaint in January spurred the investigation.

Police seized a computer at the suspect’s home, as well as Nazi flags and shirts as well as propaganda material.

Ross says the two arrests for similar crimes in a matter of days is merely coincidental.

A 17-year-old was arrested earlier this week in the northeastern Quebec town of Sept-Îles, for using his Facebook page to allegedly spread hate.

It is not thanks to such measures, it is thanks to throwing off the shackles of the catholic church and becoming politically aware. The language laws are a crutch, and an embarassment, frankly. As a Quebecer with a foot in both worlds I am disappointed when people think that protection of one culture requires the diminution of, and discrimination against, another. And it is bad for everyone; for example it is the French people ultimately who pay the price for their government denying them access to the education they should freely be able to choose as members of an ostensibly free society.

Culture should not be legislated.

Sorry for continuing the derail. This crap just happens to hit close to home, y’know?
