Reemul, I love aviation, and that Hawker picture is a stunner. Awesome airplane.

Thanks, she is our favourite and sounds great.

Bonus shot of her

Reemul, I visit an aviation-centric website pretty often, and I linked your two pictures there in a thread on “shots you currently love,” or something like that. Is that ok? I didn’t really think about it until after I did it, but they’re at:

clicky the linky

Sure that’s great, thanks

Just got back from a week’s holiday in Cornwall as well as an air show. Couple from Cornwall below.

Sorry for the deluge, but I’ve been busy. Just processed these shots. Sorry that they’re so big. : (

Little Sandy Lake, WY

Sugarloaf and Medicine Bow Mountain, Wyoming. In 1955 a DC-4 for United crashed here and killed 55 people. I managed to find the bits and pieces. Well preserved, really.

Fire Season:

Missoula:

One of the things I love about the west is being able to see that it’s raining way over yonder like this. One of those things you don’t see very often in places where rain generally means “low cloud cover for a 50 mile radius”, instead of “This little cloud over here popped up, got full, and then burst.”

Welcome to Oz Alan! I hope you enjoyed the Great Ocean Road and the Shipwreck Coast.

That’s a cool point you’ve raised, mouselock. I’ve been other places and never really thought about it, but the virga and relatively small size of the, uh, stormlettes here are pretty cool. Yesterday we got a powerful lightning storm…that lasted about five and a half minutes.

That’s something that I like about Florida as well. You can see weather coming from miles away.

Just got back from the Goodwood Revival and had an amazing time. The person who got us the tickets also got us a full hosting package. We had full access to the pit lane, including during the racing. Access to over the pit viewing, we also had our own personal Grandstand with tv’s showing the race right at the end of the chicane / start of the straight and at the grid.

We met Sir Jackie Stewart 3 times world champion as we strolled through the paddock and he was showing us his cars. Also had a chat with Chris Evans (UK DJ) and avid Ferrari owner who had a Ferrari racing there.

The sound of the cars was just unbelieveable, made your ears vibrate. Kids were in heaven, my youngest who is 3 loves Yellow cars and there were a few Yellow Ferrari’s which he followed all the time while my eldest just preferred the loudest cars. Even my wife didn’t want to come home, just the most superb day out even with the rain at the end.

A few I have developed and thought more interesting really.

This was taken from the over the pit viewing area that was restricted access. This was towards the end and it was raining hard.

Man there is something sexy about F1 cars of that vintage. What I would give to take one for a spin.

Very nice lotus shot.

I just went to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, took a look at their various authentic and replica planes and took a ride in a vintage 1929 biplane (a Day D-25) over the Hudson.

This is a flyable replica of the famous ace Georges Guynemer’s SPAD XIII with cannon mount in the crankshaft and everything.

ArtPrize 2013! I lack the a) skill and b) equipment to take really impressive photos, but I think a few of them are worth staring at for a bit. Full album on FB here.

“Tired Pandas” - the material is, of course, recycled tires.

For KrazyKrok.

Flamingo, made completely out of colored ping-pong balls.

Small statuettes made of crayons, in all 64 colors.

Will probably have some more after another trip downtown tomorrow.

A few more from today’s trip out into the wilds of ArtPrize.

A big metal fish. Beached, sadly, but probably for the best. Rust, you know.

An Earth Giant sculpture. The artist statement says all the materials were found in the woods.

Titled “Doghouse”.

Giant toy ducks. Because…just because.

Dragon statue.
