They just look cool. They do nothing.
Exactly. It’s all about style.

I got it if nobody else did…
Oh we did, it’s just that the like button isn’t working.
Some great photos here, good for inspiration!
Those are some spectacular shots. The photographers really spent a lot of time to get their one great shot. My favourite is the Great Blue Herons.
Yeah, I’d have been very happy getting that for sure! Ok, I’d have been very happy getting any of them frankly. The blackbird photo blows me away though because it’s such a cool image; contains biology, physics, animal behaviour, and also looks great!
Summer… so racing pics again.
The second one cracked me up because until I got home I didn’t realize that Chase Stockon had made a bit of a joke out of people messing up his name on the nameplate at the top of the rollcage there. :D

Very cool pics! How did you get it so that car is so crisp while everything else is a blur? That’s some mighty fine tracking.
Last summer I started messing with manual settings on my camera to try to get that effect. It’s all dependent on time of day and of course my own ability to pan smoothly with the car through the corner. I think at Port Royal where those were taken, the wingless cars are going somewhere around 80mph or so where I’m taking the shot? I honestly don’t know for sure.
That’s f/stop of f/8, 1/100 exposure time and ISO-800 for those two shots. They were taken around 7:50PM on a cloudy-ish day.
I get a bunch of crappy ones with the good ones of course, but the really good ones look like the above which is what I want. I need a better lens now because I want to get in a little closer. :)
Also, thanks!
Yes, wow, those do look nice. I see pictures like that and think the photographer knows something I don’t. I’m sure you know a LOT more than I do, but what you’re describing about how you get them is exactly my experience. I see a photo effect that I like. I try different things to get one like it. I get one or two images that are great. I get dozens and dozens that are not so great. But these? These are awesome.
I think this is just photography.
I think you’re onto something Mr. Wheeljack. It really is, isn’t it?
