Well, I’m from the Netherlands, so in comparison, I still tend to think there is some truth in that memes ;-).
Anyway, the dogs probably also instinctively stay away from danger? I remember seeing a redback spider in a birds cage on Magnetic Island once and telling the zookeeper about it. He was glad I spotted it (the first redback on the island in 25 years, apparently) but was in no hurry to get it out, as the Cockatoo would instinctively stay clear of it anyway…
Edit: just recalled I took the worst picture ever of it. Guess I can do blurry too ;-)

Quite an achievement, isn’t it? :-). In my defence, it was taken with a cheap camera that had fallen into the water a month earlier (because of another spider, but that’s another story), and I didn’t feel like getting too close. But even so: not my greatest photo…

I was at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend for IndyCar racing. There were six other series running at the same time. I didn’t take as many pictures as I hoped to, but I was pretty tired after the 7 hour ride Friday and knew I had a 7 hour drive home on Sunday after the race. Anyway, this is one of the best…

I had a really good night at Kutztown on Wednesday. Some really awesome shots despite less than ideal lighting at times and difficult framing due to lots of people in attendance.
Note the dirt (rocks?) in the air in front of the car… I think they’re being kicked toward the fence by the front wheel.

I was lucky with the weather when I visited - it had been raining and there was still quite a bit of cloud hanging around. As we walked the cloud moved over the track and gave the lovely soft background.
