Thanks! We just moved a little over a month ago. Can’t see it here but Hood Canal Bridge is to the right and Olympic mountains to the left.
Who knew Leprachauns could survive under water?
Anyway, one time my family and I were driving in the country somewhere in Oregon, and conditions were just right with the mist and the sun such that rainbows were really really close to the car. Like, between our car and the next car ahead of us on the highway.

iPhone camera at night, but this still brings me to tears. That’s my son on the left after I saw him graduate boot camp last Friday, heading on to the next adventure.

That’s a high-quality photo in a way that has nothing to do with how sharp the image is. Congrats to your son @DaveLong, hope he finds safety and honor in his service!
My brother-in-law does a bunch of high-quality underwater photography. He’s taken to giving some of his pics titles. This one is simply titled “TRUMP”.
Another couple rolls back. The first two are from Iron Goat Trail, and made me decide to just commit and start shooting with my 4x5 so I can shoot those tall geometric shapes without worrying about ugly converging lines.

In August I was lucky enough to head over to Iceland for an awesome two week road trip!
I travelled in a small “campervan”, which was sufficient for my needs but had nowhere near the creature comforts that an actual RV would provide…

Even though it was midsummer, I got hit by a cold front while travelling along the east & north coast so I even experienced some chilly weather with snow. Thus my time at the “Prometheus” waterfall was very limited as I was soaked to the bone and it felt like my fingers were freezing off. Took some pics and quickly headed back to the van…

The “diamond beach” was amazing, but due to climate change and summer temperatures, there was nowhere near as much ice lying around as I’ve seen in pics. (featured in the intro scene from Fortitude btw)

There was a viking village that gave me flashbacks to wandering around Skyrim.

Here are some more impressions:

Those are amazing, @Cormac! That rainbow waterfall shot is just incredible.

Thanks! Was pretty lucky that day with the light. Also just before the trip I bought a Canon 80D so it was fun to give that a proper whirl!
Those shots are really awesome! I particularly love the ship and the viking village.

Here’s another shot of that waterfall:

I love these kinds of vanishing perspective shots, and the black and white really brings out the effect. Reminds me of these shots I took at Angkor Wat a few months ago. A much softer and less contrasty look than the black and white though.
Every time I see photos of Iceland, it makes me that much more determined to see it one day. Great pics. I love the old ship hull photo.
Mostly been taking bird photos recently.
Blue-winged kookaburra
Great billed heron
Australasian darter
White faced heron
Oh and of course the dog

Very cool! I still struggle to get flying birds into focus. Reminds me of the 2 hours I spend trying to catch puffins in flight (can’t remember if I posted them here?) and only really having a handful that were acceptable. My arm sure was tired after that session! :)

Those are great! Yeah, there’s all kinds of tricks to try and get sharp in-flight images. I think my eureka moment though was learning to remove AF from the shutter and put it onto a button in reach of my thumb instead, so I could turn AF on and off independently of worrying about half holding the shutter. Much easier! Then it’s just a case of setting the camera up for high shutter speed, good tracking and stablisation. The rest is a lot of prediction of flight paths; nesting colonies are great.
This of course is a recently introduced species and not native to Australia.

holy shit that’s a beautiful shot mate!
A pair of long exposures. The first one was taken right before the crazy thunderstorm we had in Seattle a few weeks back. The rain was already starting to fall by the time the exposure was finished and I managed to pack up my gear and wrap a plastic Safeway bag around the camera literally seconds before it became an absolute downpour. Had to hike a over a mile back to my car in near-total darkness, occasionally having to wait for lightning to strike to see where I needed to go. I have since added an LED headlamp to my kit.
