Well, the comet blew apart due to hairline fractures in the pressure tube.

8psi is about as much as my bikes tire. It’s more than that clown’s balloon. An aircraft is built as light as possible. Just like that clown’s balloon. POP!

A typical tire on a road bike is 90-130 psi. Even mountain bikes operate at about 35 psi and car tires run 30-35 psi. A latex party balloon is like 0.3 psi, but it’s made out of thin latex that readily propagates flaws.

The Comets failed because of metal fatigue due to the repeated tensile stress of pressurizing and depressurizing the cabin over several flights. This created structural cracks along rivet lines and around window frames and the aircraft fell apart. So, they did, in effect, “pop” but it was due to metal fatigue, not a single puncture event.

right. well, guess we all know now how it is :D ta!

The solution to this discussion is transparent aluminium carbon fiber.

Took this photo of my uncle this weekend. The dramatic lighting and texture are a result of the orthochromatic x-ray film. The actual scene was relatively tame.

When I get around to printing it, I’ll probably try out sepia toning.

Man that’s a beautiful portrait. I love that camera and what you do with it.

Grabbed a couple shots of the sun setting here in Michigan tonight.

I saw your second one first, through bleary eyes, and my mind was so confused as to how the “mirage” was being photographed. Then I managed to wake all the way up and subsequently realized that it was a cloud!

That second one appears to show wisps of mist or something rising above the cloud, which I’ve never personally witnessed before. Maybe it was there in the previous shot, but was invisible until it was backlit by the sun?

a quick shot with my mobile cam in Stuttgart, Germany.

interestingly, there are 2 other houses left and right next to this house under the same bridge (below similar arcs)

No need to pass up some perfectly good real estate.

now I wonder, was the bridge built first and then the house or the other way around? I would think the bridge came later

Situations like this are why I wish I still had a real camera. Five fox kits playing in my back yard. Momma was just around the corner and I couldn’t get a shot with her in it.

My jog this morning. This is with my phone, and it’s not well composed, but pretty accurately conveys the quality of the light:

Spooky!

That’s the setting for the next Silent Hill game. Except without hills since it’s flat.

In the creepy, gross, and sad (but interesting IMO) category, I present this picture that I took during a walk around the property yesterday evening.

Spoilered for those with no interest in seeing a raccoon afflicted with rabies. I did shoot and bury the thing shortly afterwards, but it was a spooky, sobering moment when I turned the corner and walked up on it. For what it’s worth I wasn’t really in any danger since I had a long lens, and it was both oblivious and paralyzed in the hind quarters.

Sad. But not spoilered.

That’s weird. It is on mine. I deleted a space after the opening tag, so does it work now?

Yeah. Thanks.
